Composed: Talmudic Babylon, c.450 – c.550 CE
Tractate Sukkah is located in Seder Moed (“the Order of Festivals”) and discusses the holiday of Sukkot. It consists of five chapters; the first two chapters discuss the structure of and obligation to dwell in the sukkah. The remaining chapters discuss laws of the four species and the celebration of Sukkot in the Temple, describing ceremonies involving willow branches and water libations.
