A note on building words from letters:
The hebrew alphabet is more than a writing form. Words are called Teivot, which has the connotation of box, or container.
A word is a container of meaning, stemming from the building blocks of creation. In Genesis, the creation of all existence is described as sayings of God.(1) Our Sages teach that God formed the world through ten sayings. This book describes each letter of the aleph bet.
General concepts on root words:
In a shoresh, or root word, there are nearly always 3 main letters. The position of each letter describes the wordâs meaning.
1st positionâdescribes what is happening

3rd positionâdescribes where it is happening.
To illustrate: using the word ××× (cheled), we can see how this concept applies.
× indicates a connection
× signifies growth
× signifies a limitation
Through this concept, the word cheled is seen to mean a connection occurring through growth, in a location, concept, or setting of limitation. For example, death is a moment of connection with the infinite through growth into a new phase, and it occurs through a limitationâdeath. After death, there is no more action a person can take. As such, death acts as a limiter.

Heh connotes holding and delineating. Its value relates to the five fingers of the hand. This is indicated in how heh is used as a prefix and suffix. As a suffix, heh shows feminine sense; and is used for feminine possessive. As a prefix, it is the word the, which is grasping/specifying. (13)

As a prefix, vav means and; it is a connective. (15) Vav is also uniquely used to change a past tense word to a future tense word. To illustrate, the first word of the second paragraph of the daily Shâma is VeHayah. In general, the word Hayah means was. With the vav added to the beginning of Hayah, the word VeHayah comes to mean and it will be.

Vav is the arm that stretches out to give, and is in the shape of an arm.

Chet is closed from all directions except the one below, signifying how all directions except what comes from above are closed. This opening corresponds to gevurah. (18)
When chet is the suffix and its vowel is a patakh, the vowel is read before its consonant. This is the only case.

Shin signifies multitude of deeds with a unity of purpose. (29)
As a prefix, Shin means âthatâ; it connects and specifies. Its 3 heads represent the 3 basic concepts: thesis, antithesis, and synthesis. These 3 exist to bring a single goal: Malchuth of Ain Sof. (30) This is the single point at the bottom of the Shin. Shin is the answer to the why of creation.
In its form, Shin represents this by looking like the roots of a tree. Every branch of the tree can be the root of a new tree. (31)

(6) The letter Tet entered and said: âMaker of the world, it would be good to create the world with me, for it is by me that You are called Tov.â The Creator replied: âI will not create the world by you, for your goodness is concealed within you and is invisible. Therefore, it cannot take any part in the world that I wish to create, and will only be revealed in the world to come. And since your goodness is concealed within you, the gates of the palace will sink into the ground, for the letter Chet is opposite from you, and when you join together, the word CHeT will be formed.
