Now that you have learned how to create sheets and format them, it’s time to ask: What can I do with my sheets once I have them? Sefaria’s sheets are fundamentally different from Word documents or even Google docs; they are dynamic, interlinked, and part of a larger ecosystem of Torah materials. In this lesson, you will get a sense of how you might use the materials you’ve created.
Check out the video below to get started.
1) Assign your sheet:
You have experienced this feature as a student, working your way through this course. Now it’s time to learn to use it as an educator. This feature automatically generates a new copy of the sheet for each student, so that learners can do their own individual work and the teacher can read it and comment.
Students work on their individual source sheets while the teacher's sheet remains in its original form.
To assign a source sheet, follow the steps below:
  1. Click on "Assignments" in the "File" menu.
  2. Click "Assign this Sheet".
  3. Send the newly created URL to your students.
Receiving completed assignments from students:
Once a student completes the assigned sheet and saves it, the teacher receives notification. Click on "Assignments" in the "File" menu to see the list.
Commenting on student work:
Teachers may review or comment on a student's work.
  1. Open the student's source sheet by clicking on the name on the list of saved assignments.
  2. Add a comment to the student's sheet.
  3. The comment will appear on the student's sheet with the teacher's name.
Stopping the collection of assignments:
A teacher stops the collection of assignments by clicking on the "Stop Collecting Assignments" button in the assignment box.
The assignment can be reassigned at any time.
2) Embed your sheet:
This option allows your audience to scroll through the sheet without leaving the website or framework that you have created. As with any Sefaria sheet, a learner may still click on a source title to open the full text and go beyond what is included in the sheet.
Embedding a sheet works perfectly with learning management systems (LMS), school websites or school newsletters.
To embed a sheet, click "Embed Sheet" from the "File" menu. Copy and paste the embed code.
3) Make a copy of your sheet:
Because your sheet was created on Sefaria, it is extremely easy to copy and customize. You might choose to have a student version and a teacher version, or to differentiate among student groups. Of course, these instructions also work when you find a great sheet shared by someone else, and you would like to copy it to your own library and adapt it.
There are two ways to copy a sheet. First, select "Copy Sheet" from the "File" menu.
Another option is to click "Copy" in the Table of Contents of a sheet.
In either case, click "view copy" to see your new sheet. The new sheet is now yours and can be edited to suit your needs.
4) Delete your sheet:
Just in case you decide you are done with what you’ve created, we want to make sure you know where to find the digital trash can.
Select "Delete Sheet" from the "File" menu and follow the directions.
5) Finding your sheets:
Sheets that you have created are stored in your account and can be found on your profile page. If you have made them public, they can also be found in our sheets library and discovered through a search. Tagging your sheets makes it easier for others and for you to find your sheets.
Finding sheets in your account:
  1. Click on the profile icon in the top right-hand corner to open your account page.
  2. Sheets will be selected. Scroll down to see a complete list of all sheets that you have made; whether public or not.
6) Visualize your sheet:
Sefaria's visualize mode is an amazing online option. When you select "Visualize" from the "File" menu, a new page is created with the sources turned into post-it notes which you can re-size, change the color and move around the page. This new page has its own URL which can be shared. Visualized pages are primarily digital and not optimized for print, but the uses for a visualized page are limitless. Clicking the back arrow on your browser will take you back to the original, non-visualized, sheet. When you enter visualize again, your texts will be right where you left them.
Click here to open a sheet which is enhanced by the visualizing tool. Visualize the page and sort the four texts into two groups.
6) Printing a source sheet:
There are many advantages to using a source sheet online but, if you would still prefer to print, there are two options available to you.
Print via the "File" menu
  1. Select "Print" from the "File" menu.
  2. Select your printer and click "print" or
  3. Save as a pdf and print as usual.
Print via Google Drive - This option allows you to export your Sefaria source sheet to your Google Drive. The sheet becomes a Google Doc and can be edited using all of Google's editing tools. Any edits that you make on the new Google Doc can not be transferred back to the original source sheet so make sure to export after you have completed your work on Sefaria.
Click on "Export to Google Drive" in the "File" menu and follow the directions.
7) Here's your assignment:
When you are ready to get started, click on "Assignment #5" below and follow the instructions! Remember to click "save" right away so that your work is saved. Once you click the blue save button, it will disappear and be replaced by a "share" button - a good indication that you have saved your work!
