B'nai Mitzvah

(2) Just as a person is obligated to teach his son, so too he is obligated to teach his grandson, as it says, "And make them known to your children, and to your children's children" (Deut 4:9).

What are some obligations parents feel they have to their children?

Do today's parents hold religious obligations as high as secular obligations (i.e. Becoming a bar/bat mitzvah vs learning an instrument?)

(6) Train up a child in the way he should go, And even when he is old, he will not depart from it.

What kind of training is meant by this proverb? What won't a child depart from (even when he is old)? What do we hope our students will 'stay true too'? What are important parts of the Bar/Bat Mitzvah training should be our focus?

(7) and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Who should teach 'them'? What, if any, requirements do we have our parents complete in the B'nai Mitzvah process?
