(1) In the beginning Hashem created heaven and earth—
(2) I the LORD am your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, the house of bondage:
The various Hebrew letters all wanted the world to be created with them, but Hashem chose the letter beis because it begins the word "bracha" and it is a sign of blessing. And if you ask, why not start with alef, which is the first of the letters, that is because alef begins the word "arur", meaning curse, and therefore Hashem didn't use the letter alef, even though alef holds in it the lofty secret, because Hashem didn't want to give a place for the evil side, which is called cursed.
AND THERE ISRAEL ENCAMPED as one man and with one mind — but all their other encampments were made in a murmuring spirit and in a spirit of dissension (Mekhilta d'Rabbi Yishmael 19:2:10).
And this is what Rabbi Yosei bar Ḥanina said: What is the meaning of that which is written: “A sword is upon the boasters [habaddim], and they shall become fools [noalu]” (Jeremiah 50:36)? This verse can be interpreted homiletically: There is a sword upon the enemies of Torah scholars, a euphemism for Torah scholars themselves, who sit alone [bad bevad] and study Torah. And not only that, but those who study by themselves grow foolish from their solitary Torah study, as it is stated: “And they shall become fools.”

An old wise man said that Hashem gave the Torah to the Jewish people in the desert, the most difficult place to live, which represents evil, because the Jews at that time had reached a high level and were able to subdue the evil.
In addition, words of Torah can only be understood there, because light only comes out of darkness. For when the evil is subdued, Hashem is glorified.
