Abraham and his guests

(1) And the LORD appeared to him (Abraham) by the Terebinths of Mamre (a place where Abraham camped near Hebron) as he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; (2) and he lifted up his eyes and looked, and he saw three men stood near him; and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed down to the earth, (3) and said: ‘My lords, if now I have found favour in your eyes, do not go away, I beg of you, from your servant. (4)Let a little water be brought; wash your feet, and recline yourselves under the tree. (5) And I will get a small piece of bread so you can refresh yourselves; after that you shall go on; for you have come the way of your servant.’ And they said: ‘Do as you have said.’ (6) And Abraham hastened into the tent to Sarah, and said: ‘Make ready quickly three portions of fine flour, knead it, and make cakes.’ (7) And Abraham ran to the herd, and fetched a calf, tender and good, and gave it to a servant, who hastened to prepare it (8) And he took curd, and milk, and the calf which had been prepared, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree as they ate
