רֶגַע שֶׁל עִבְרִית A Moment of Hebrew
וַיִּתְּנוּ אֶל יַעֲקֹב אֵת כׇּל אֱלֹהֵי הַנֵּכָר אֲשֶׁר בְּיָדָם וְאֶת הַנְּזָמִים אֲשֶׁר בְּאׇזְנֵיהֶם וַיִּטְמֹן אֹתָם יַעֲקֹב תַּחַת הָאֵלָה אֲשֶׁר עִם שְׁכֶם׃
They gave to Yaakov all the idols they had, and the rings that were in their ears, and Yaakov buried them under the terebinth tree that was near Shekhem.
לְהַטְמִין lehatmin (שֹׁרֶשׁ ט.מ.נ)
- To bury or hide
מַטְמוֹן (matmon) = Treasure
הַטְמָנָה = Hatmanah, or insulating food to keep it warm. The Gemara says you can't do hatmanah on Shabbat. But you're allowed to do it before Shabbat as long as it doesn't increase the heat (Shabbat 34b).
טָמְנָה רֹאשָׁהּ בַּחוֹל (tamnah roshah ba-hol) = Buried her head in the sand
