(8) One should pay careful attention to the letters that are written large or small, to the letters that are punctuated with dots above them, to the letters that are written differently to the others, such as the curled letter Peh's and the letters that are curved, in the way the scribes have carried on the tradition. One is to pay attention to the crowns and the number of them in each case— one letter having above it a single crown, another having seven crowns. All the crowns have the shape of the letter Zayin and are to be thin as a hair.

(1) When humankind began to increase on earth and daughters were born to them, (2) the [males among the] divine beings saw how pleasing the human women were and took wives from among those who delighted them.— (3) ה' said, “My breath shall not abide in humankind forever, since it too is flesh; let the days allowed them be one hundred and twenty years.”— (4) It was then, and later too, that the Nephilim appeared on earth—when divine beings cohabited with the human women, who bore them offspring. Such were the heroes of old, the men of renown. (5) ה' saw how great was human wickedness on earth—how every plan devised by the human mind was nothing but evil all the time. (6) And ה' regretted having made humankind on earth. With a sorrowful heart, (7) ה' said, “I will blot out from the earth humankind whom I created—humans together with beasts, creeping things, and birds of the sky; for I regret that I made them.”

(4) For in seven days’ time I will make it rain upon the earth, forty days and forty nights, and I will blot out from the earth all existence that I created.” (5) And Noah did just as ה' commanded him. (6) Noah was six hundred years old when the Flood came, waters upon the earth. (7) Noah, with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives, went into the ark because of the waters of the Flood. (17) But ה' afflicted Pharaoh and his household with mighty plagues on account of Sarai, the wife of Abram.

(15) At night, he and his servants deployed against them and defeated them; and he pursued them as far as Hobah, which is north of Damascus.
(ה) ויוצא אתו החוצה ויאמר הבט נא השמימה וספר הכוכבים אם תוכל לספר אתם ויאמר לו כה יהיה זרעך
(5) [Then in the vision, God] took him outside and said, “Look toward heaven and count the stars, if you are able to count them”—continuing, “So shall your offspring be.”
(יג) כי משחתים אנחנו את המקום הזה כי גדלה צעקתם את פני ה' וישלחנו ה' לשחתה

(כא) ויאמר אליו הנה נשאתי פניך גם לדבר הזה לבלתי הפכי את העיר אשר דברת
(13) For we are about to destroy this place; because the outcry against them before ה' has become so great that ה' has sent us to destroy it.” (14) So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who had married his daughters, and said, “Up, get out of this place, for ה' is about to destroy the city.” But he seemed to his sons-in-law as one who jests. (15) As dawn broke, the messengers urged Lot on, saying, “Up, take your wife and your two remaining daughters, lest you be swept away because of the iniquity of the city.” (16) Still he delayed. So the agents seized his hand, and the hands of his wife and his two daughters—in יהוה’s mercy on him—and brought him out and left him outside the city. (17) When they had brought them outside, one said, “Flee for your life! Do not look behind you, nor stop anywhere in the Plain; flee to the hills, lest you be swept away.” (18) But Lot said to them, “Oh no, my lord! (19) You have been so gracious to your servant, and have already shown me so much kindness in order to save my life; but I cannot flee to the hills, lest the disaster overtake me and I die. (20) Look, that town there is near enough to flee to; it is such a little place! Let me flee there—it is such a little place—and let my life be saved.” (21) He replied, “Very well, I will grant you this favor too, and I will not annihilate the town of which you have spoken.
(א) וה' פקד את שרה כאשר אמר ויעש ה' לשרה כאשר דבר
(1) ה' took note of Sarah as promised, and ה' did for Sarah what had been announced.
(מו) ותאמר רבקה אל יצחק קצתי בחיי מפני בנות חת אם לקח יעקב אשה מבנות חת כאלה מבנות הארץ למה לי חיים
(46) Rebekah said to Isaac, “I am disgusted with my life because of the Hittite women. If Jacob marries a Hittite woman like these, from among the native women, what good will life be to me?”
(יא) קח נא את ברכתי אשר הבאת לך כי חנני אלקים וכי יש לי כל ויפצר בו ויקח
(11) Please accept my present which has been brought to you, for God has favored me and I have plenty.” And when he urged him, he accepted.

(5) Once Joseph had a dream which he told to his brothers; and they hated him even more. (6) He said to them, “Hear this dream which I have dreamed: (7) There we were binding sheaves in the field, when suddenly my sheaf stood up and remained upright; then your sheaves gathered around and bowed low to my sheaf.” (8) His brothers answered, “Do you mean to reign over us? Do you mean to rule over us?” And they hated him even more for his talk about his dreams. (9) He dreamed another dream and told it to his brothers, saying, “Look, I have had another dream: And this time, the sun, the moon, and eleven stars were bowing down to me.” (10) And when he told it to his father and brothers, his father berated him. “What,” he said to him, “is this dream you have dreamed? Are we to come, I and your mother and your brothers, and bow low to you to the ground?” (11) So his brothers were wrought up at him, and his father kept the matter in mind. (12) One time, when his brothers had gone to pasture their father’s flock at Shechem, (13) Israel said to Joseph, “Your brothers are pasturing at Shechem. Come, I will send you to them.” He answered, “I am ready.” (14) And he said to him, “Go and see how your brothers are and how the flocks are faring, and bring me back word.” So he sent him from the valley of Hebron. When he reached Shechem, (15) a man came upon him wandering in the fields. The man asked him, “What are you looking for?” (16) He answered, “I am looking for my brothers. Could you tell me where they are pasturing?” (17) The man said, “They have gone from here, for I heard them say: Let us go to Dothan.” So Joseph followed his brothers and found them at Dothan. (18) They saw him from afar, and before he came close to them they conspired to kill him. (19) They said to one another, “Here comes that dreamer! (20) Come now, let us kill him and throw him into one of the pits; and we can say, ‘A savage beast devoured him.’ We shall see what comes of his dreams!” (21) But when Reuben heard it, he tried to save him from them. He said, “Let us not take his life.” (22) And Reuben went on, “Shed no blood! Cast him into that pit out in the wilderness, but do not touch him yourselves”—intending to save him from them and restore him to his father. (23) When Joseph came up to his brothers, they stripped Joseph of his tunic, the ornamented tunic that he was wearing,

(45) Pharaoh then gave Joseph the name Zaphenath-paneah; and he gave him for a wife Asenath daughter of Poti-phera, priest of On. Thus Joseph emerged in charge of the land of Egypt.— (46) Joseph was thirty years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh king of Egypt.—Leaving Pharaoh’s presence, Joseph traveled through all the land of Egypt. (47) During the seven years of plenty, the land produced in abundance. (48) And he gathered all the grain of the seven years that the land of Egypt was enjoying, and stored the grain in the cities; he put in each city the grain of the fields around it. (49) So Joseph collected produce in very large quantity, like the sands of the sea, until he ceased to measure it, for it could not be measured. (50) Before the years of famine came, Joseph became the father of two sons, whom Asenath daughter of Poti-phera, priest of On, bore to him.
(ט) אנכי אערבנו מידי תבקשנו אם לא הביאתיו אליך והצגתיו לפניך וחטאתי לך כל הימים
(9) I myself will be surety for him; you may hold me responsible: if I do not bring him back to you and set him before you, I shall stand guilty before you forever.
(כח) ואת יהודה שלח לפניו אל יוסף להורת לפניו גשנה ויבאו ארצה גשן
(28) He had sent Judah ahead of him to Joseph, to point the way before him to Goshen. So when they came to the region of Goshen,
(יז) כה תאמרו ליוסף אנא שא נא פשע אחיך וחטאתם כי רעה גמלוך ועתה שא נא לפשע עבדי אלקי אביך ויבך יוסף בדברם אליו
(17) So shall you say to Joseph, ‘Forgive, I urge you, the offense and guilt of your brothers who treated you so harshly.’ Therefore, please forgive the offense of the servants of the God of your father’s [house].” And Joseph was in tears as they spoke to him.
(י) הבה נתחכמה לו פן ירבה והיה כי תקראנה מלחמה ונוסף גם הוא על שנאינו ונלחם בנו ועלה מן הארץ (יא) וישימו עליו שרי מסים למען ענתו בסבלתם ויבן ערי מסכנות לפרעה את פתם ואת רעמסס (יב) וכאשר יענו אתו כן ירבה וכן יפרץ ויקצו מפני בני ישראל
(10) Let us deal shrewdly with them, so that they may not increase; otherwise in the event of war they may join our enemies in fighting against us and rise from the ground.” (11) So they set taskmasters over them to oppress them with forced labor; and they built garrison cities for Pharaoh: Pithom and Raamses. (12) But the more they were oppressed, the more they increased and spread out, so that the [Egyptians] came to dread the Israelites.
(ט) והיה אם לא יאמינו גם לשני האתות האלה ולא ישמעון לקלך ולקחת ממימי היאר ושפכת היבשה והיו המים אשר תקח מן היאר והיו לדם ביבשת
(9) And if they are not convinced by both these signs and still do not heed you, take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground, and it—the water that you take from the Nile—will turn to blood on the dry ground.”
(כא) ויאמרו אלקם ירא ה' עליכם וישפט אשר הבאשתם את ריחנו בעיני פרעה ובעיני עבדיו לתת חרב בידם להרגנו
(21) and they said to them, “May ה' look upon you and punish you for making us loathsome to Pharaoh and his courtiers—putting a sword in their hands to slay us.”
(ד) ולא ישמע אלכם פרעה ונתתי את ידי במצרים והוצאתי את צבאתי את עמי בני ישראל מארץ מצרים בשפטים גדלים
(4) When Pharaoh does not heed you, I will lay My hand upon Egypt and deliver My ranks, My people the Israelites, from the land of Egypt with extraordinary chastisements.
(יט) ויהפך ה' רוח ים חזק מאד וישא את הארבה ויתקעהו ימה סוף לא נשאר ארבה

(כח) ויאמר לו פרעה לך מעלי השמר לך אל תסף ראות פני כי ביום ראתך פני תמות
(19) ה' caused a shift to a very strong west wind, which lifted the locusts and hurled them into the Sea of Reeds; not a single locust remained in all the territory of Egypt. (20) But ה' stiffened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let the Israelites go. (21) Then ה' said to Moses, “Hold out your arm toward the sky that there may be darkness upon the land of Egypt, a darkness that can be touched.” (22) Moses held out his arm toward the sky and thick darkness descended upon all the land of Egypt for three days. (23) People could not see one another, and for three days no one could move about; but all the Israelites enjoyed light in their dwellings. (24) Pharaoh then summoned Moses and said, “Go, worship ה' ! Only your flocks and your herds shall be left behind; even your dependents may go with you.” (25) But Moses said, “You yourself must provide us with sacrifices and burnt offerings to offer up to our God ה'; (26) our own livestock, too, shall go along with us—not a hoof shall remain behind: for we must select from it for the worship of our God ה'; and we shall not know with what we are to worship ה' until we arrive there.” (27) But ה' stiffened Pharaoh’s heart and he would not agree to let them go. (28) Pharaoh said to him, “Be gone from me! Take care not to see me again, for the moment you look upon my face you shall die.”
(טו) ויהי כי הקשה פרעה לשלחנו ויהרג ה' כל בכור בארץ מצרים מבכר אדם ועד בכור בהמה על כן אני זבח לה' כל פטר רחם הזכרים וכל בכור בני אפדה
(15) When Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, ה' slew every [male] first-born in the land of Egypt, the first-born of both human and beast. Therefore I sacrifice to ה' every first male issue of the womb, but redeem every male first-born among my children.’

(כז) ויט משה את ידו על הים וישב הים לפנות בקר לאיתנו ומצרים נסים לקראתו וינער ה' את מצרים בתוך הים (כח) וישבו המים ויכסו את הרכב ואת הפרשים לכל חיל פרעה הבאים אחריהם בים לא נשאר בהם עד אחד
(27) Moses held out his arm over the sea, and at daybreak the sea returned to its normal state, and the Egyptians fled at its approach. But ה' hurled the Egyptians into the sea. (28) The waters turned back and covered the chariots and the riders—Pharaoh’s entire army that followed them into the sea; not one of them remained.

(4) Pharaoh’s chariots and his army
He has cast into the sea;
And the pick of his officers
Are drowned in the Sea of Reeds.
(5) The deeps covered them;
They went down into the depths like a stone.
(6) Your right hand, ה', glorious in power,
Your right hand, ה', shatters the foe!
(7) In Your great triumph You break Your opponents;
You send forth Your fury, it consumes them like straw.
(8) At the blast of Your nostrils the waters piled up,
The floods stood straight like a wall;
The deeps froze in the heart of the sea.
(9) The foe said,
“I will pursue, I will overtake,
I will divide the spoil;
My desire shall have its fill of them.
I will bare my sword—
My hand shall subdue them.”
(10) You made Your wind blow, the sea covered them;
They sank like lead in the majestic waters.
(11) Who is like You, ה', among the celestials;
Who is like You, majestic in holiness,
Awesome in splendor, working wonders!
(12) You put out Your right hand,
The earth swallowed them.
(13) In Your love You lead the people You redeemed;
In Your strength You guide them to Your holy abode.
(14) The peoples hear, they tremble;
Agony grips the dwellers in Philistia.
(15) Now are the clans of Edom dismayed;
The tribes of Moab—trembling grips them;
All the dwellers in Canaan are aghast.
(16) Terror and dread descend upon them;
Through the might of Your arm they are still as stone—
Till Your people cross over, ה',
Till Your people cross whom You have ransomed.
(17) You will bring them and plant them in Your own mountain,
The place You made to dwell in, ה',
The sanctuary, O my lord, which Your hands established.
(18) ה' will reign for ever and ever!
(19) For the horses of Pharaoh, with his chariots and riders, went into the sea; and ה' turned back on them the waters of the sea; but the Israelites marched on dry ground in the midst of the sea.

(יז) ויאמר משה אל העם אל תיראו כי לבעבור נסות אתכם בא האלקים ובעבור תהיה יראתו על פניכם לבלתי תחטאו
(17) Moses answered the people, “Be not afraid; for God has come only in order to test you, and in order that the fear of God may be ever with you, so that you do not go astray.”
(ט) ואם לבנו ייעדנה כמשפט הבנות יעשה לה
(9) And if the master designated her for a son, he shall deal with her as is the practice with free maidens.

(9) And if the master designated her for a son, he shall deal with her as is the practice with free maidens. (10) If he takes another [into the household as his wife], he must not withhold from this one her food, her clothing, or her conjugal rights. (11) If he fails her in these three ways, she shall go free, without payment. (12) One who fatally strikes another party shall be put to death. (13) If [a man] did so but not by design—it came about by an act of God—I will assign you a place to which he can flee. (14) When one party schemes against another and kills through treachery, you shall take that person from My very altar to be put to death. (15) One who strikes one’s father or mother shall be put to death. (16) One who kidnaps another party—whether having sold or still holding the victim—shall be put to death. (17) One who insults one’s father or mother shall be put to death. (18) When [two] parties quarrel and one strikes the other with stone or fist, and the victim does not die but has to take to bed: (19) if that victim then gets up and walks outdoors upon a staff, the assailant shall go unpunished—except for paying for the idleness and the cure. (20) When a slave-owning party strikes a slave, male or female, with a rod, who dies there and then, this must be avenged. (21) But if the victim survives a day or two, this is not to be avenged, since the one is the other’s property. (22) When [two or more] parties fight, and one of them pushes a pregnant woman and a miscarriage results, but no other damage ensues, the one responsible shall be fined according as the woman’s husband may exact, the payment to be based on reckoning. (23) But if other damage ensues, the penalty shall be life for life, (24) eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, (25) burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise. (26) When a slave-owning party strikes the eye of a slave, male or female, and destroys it, that person shall let the slave go free on account of the eye. (27) If the owner knocks out the tooth of a slave, male or female, that person shall let the slave go free on account of the tooth. (28) When an ox gores a man or a woman to death, the ox shall be stoned and its flesh shall not be eaten, but the owner of the ox is not to be punished. (29) If, however, that ox has been in the habit of goring, and its owner, though warned, has failed to guard it, and it kills a man or a woman—the ox shall be stoned and its owner, too, shall be put to death. (30) If ransom is imposed, the owner must pay whatever is imposed to redeem the owner’s own life. (31) So, too, if it gores a minor, male or female, [its owner] shall be dealt with according to the same rule. (32) But if the ox gores a slave, male or female, [its owner] shall pay thirty shekels of silver to the master, and the ox shall be stoned. (33) When any party opens a pit, or when any party digs a pit and does not cover it, and an ox or an ass falls into it,
(ח) על כל דבר פשע על שור על חמור על שה על שלמה על כל אבדה אשר יאמר כי הוא זה עד האלקים יבא דבר שניהם אשר ירשיען אלקים ישלם שנים לרעהו {ס}
(8) (In all charges of misappropriation—pertaining to an ox, an ass, a sheep, a garment, or any other loss, whereof one party alleges, “This is it”—the case of both parties shall come before God: the one whom God declares guilty shall pay double to the other.)
(ד) כי תפגע שור איבך או חמרו תעה השב תשיבנו לו {ס} (ה) כי תראה חמור שנאך רבץ תחת משאו וחדלת מעזב לו עזב תעזב עמו {ס} (ו) לא תטה משפט אבינך בריבו

(יב) ששת ימים תעשה מעשיך וביום השביעי תשבת למען ינוח שורך וחמרך וינפש בן אמתך והגר (יג) ובכל אשר אמרתי אליכם תשמרו ושם אלקים אחרים לא תזכירו לא ישמע על פיך (יד) שלש רגלים תחג לי בשנה (טו) את חג המצות תשמר שבעת ימים תאכל מצות כאשר צויתך למועד חדש האביב כי בו יצאת ממצרים ולא יראו פני ריקם (טז) וחג הקציר בכורי מעשיך אשר תזרע בשדה וחג האסף בצאת השנה באספך את מעשיך מן השדה (יז) שלש פעמים בשנה יראה כל זכורך אל פני האדן ה'
(4) When you encounter your enemy’s ox or ass wandering, you must take it back. (5) When you see the ass of your enemy lying under its burden and would refrain from raising it, you must nevertheless help raise it. (6) You shall not subvert the rights of your needy in their disputes. (7) Keep far from a false charge; do not bring death on those who are innocent and in the right, for I will not acquit the wrongdoer. (8) Do not take bribes, for bribes blind the clear-sighted and upset the pleas of those who are in the right. (9) You shall not oppress a stranger, for you know the feelings of the stranger, having yourselves been strangers in the land of Egypt. (10) Six years you shall sow your land and gather in its yield; (11) but in the seventh you shall let it rest and lie fallow. Let the needy among your people eat of it, and what they leave let the wild beasts eat. You shall do the same with your vineyards and your olive groves. (12) Six days you shall do your work, but on the seventh day you shall cease from labor, in order that your ox and your ass may rest, and that your home-born slave and the stranger may be refreshed. (13) Be on guard concerning all that I have told you. Make no mention of the names of other gods; they shall not be heard on your lips. (14) Three times a year you shall hold a festival for Me: (15) You shall observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread—eating unleavened bread for seven days as I have commanded you—at the set time in the month of Abib, for in it you went forth from Egypt; and none shall appear before Me empty-handed; (16) and the Feast of the Harvest, of the first fruits of your work, of what you sow in the field; and the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in the results of your work from the field. (17) Three times a year all your males shall appear before the Sovereign, ה'.
(י) וכפר אהרן על קרנתיו אחת בשנה מדם חטאת הכפרים אחת בשנה יכפר עליו לדרתיכם קדש קדשים הוא לה' {פ} (יא) וידבר ה' אל משה לאמר (יב) כי תשא את ראש בני ישראל לפקדיהם ונתנו איש כפר נפשו לה' בפקד אתם ולא יהיה בהם נגף בפקד אתם

(טז) ולקחת את כסף הכפרים מאת בני ישראל ונתת אתו על עבדת אהל מועד והיה לבני ישראל לזכרון לפני ה' לכפר על נפשתיכם {פ}
(10) Once a year Aaron shall perform purification upon its horns with blood of the sin offering of purification; purification shall be performed upon it once a year throughout the ages. It is most holy to ה'. (11) ה' spoke to Moses, saying: (12) When you take a census of the Israelite men according to their army enrollment, each shall pay ה' a ransom for himself on being enrolled, that no plague may come upon them through their being enrolled. (13) This is what everyone who is entered in the records shall pay: a half-shekel by the sanctuary weight—twenty gerahs to the shekel—a half-shekel as an offering to ה'. (14) Everyone who is entered in the records, from the age of twenty years up, shall give יהוה’s offering: (15) the rich shall not pay more and the poor shall not pay less than half a shekel when giving יהוה’s offering as expiation for your persons. (16) You shall take the expiation money from the Israelites and assign it to the service of the Tent of Meeting; it shall serve the Israelites as a reminder before ה', as expiation for your persons.
(כט) ויהי ברדת משה מהר סיני ושני לחת העדת ביד משה ברדתו מן ההר ומשה לא ידע כי קרן עור פניו בדברו אתו (ל) וירא אהרן וכל בני ישראל את משה והנה קרן עור פניו וייראו מגשת אליו (לא) ויקרא אלקם משה וישבו אליו אהרן וכל הנשאים בעדה וידבר משה אלקם (לב) ואחרי כן נגשו כל בני ישראל ויצום את כל אשר דבר ה' אתו בהר סיני (לג) ויכל משה מדבר אתם ויתן על פניו מסוה (לד) ובבא משה לפני ה' לדבר אתו יסיר את המסוה עד צאתו ויצא ודבר אל בני ישראל את אשר יצוה (לה) וראו בני ישראל את פני משה כי קרן עור פני משה והשיב משה את המסוה על פניו עד באו לדבר אתו {ס}
(29) So Moses came down from Mount Sinai. And as Moses came down from the mountain bearing the two tablets of the Pact, Moses was not aware that the skin of his face was radiant, since he had spoken with God. (30) Aaron and all the Israelites saw that the skin of Moses’ face was radiant; and they shrank from coming near him. (31) But Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the chieftains in the assembly returned to him, and Moses spoke to them. (32) Afterward all the Israelites came near, and he instructed them concerning all that ה' had imparted to him on Mount Sinai. (33) And when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil over his face. (34) Whenever Moses went in before ה' to converse, he would leave the veil off until he came out; and when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, (35) the Israelites would see how radiant the skin of Moses’ face was. Moses would then put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with God.
(כב) ויבאו האנשים על הנשים כל נדיב לב הביאו חח ונזם וטבעת וכומז כל כלי זהב וכל איש אשר הניף תנופת זהב לה'
(22) Men and women, all whose hearts moved them, all who would make an elevation offering of gold to ה', came bringing brooches, earrings, rings, and pendants —gold objects of all kinds.
(ד) וסמך ידו על ראש העלה ונרצה לו לכפר עליו (ה) ושחט את בן הבקר לפני ה' והקריבו בני אהרן הכהנים את הדם וזרקו את הדם על המזבח סביב אשר פתח אהל מועד (ו) והפשיט את העלה ונתח אתה לנתחיה

(יא) ושחט אתו על ירך המזבח צפנה לפני ה' וזרקו בני אהרן הכהנים את דמו על המזבח סביב
(4) You shall lay a hand upon the head of the burnt offering, that it may be acceptable in your behalf, in expiation for you. (5) The bull shall be slaughtered before ה'; and Aaron’s sons, the priests, shall offer the blood, dashing the blood against all sides of the altar which is at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. (6) The burnt offering shall be flayed and cut up into sections. (7) The sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire on the altar and lay out wood upon the fire; (8) and Aaron’s sons, the priests, shall lay out the sections, with the head and the suet, on the wood that is on the fire upon the altar. (9) Its entrails and legs shall be washed with water, and the priest shall turn the whole into smoke on the altar as a burnt offering, an offering by fire of pleasing odor to ה'. (10) If your offering for a burnt offering is from the flock, of sheep or of goats, you shall make your offering a male without blemish. (11) It shall be slaughtered before ה' on the north side of the altar, and Aaron’s sons, the priests, shall dash its blood against all sides of the altar.
(ו) וטבל הכהן את אצבעו בדם והזה מן הדם שבע פעמים לפני ה' את פני פרכת הקדש (ז) ונתן הכהן מן הדם על קרנות מזבח קטרת הסמים לפני ה' אשר באהל מועד ואת כל דם הפר ישפך אל יסוד מזבח העלה אשר פתח אהל מועדֿ

(טז) והביא הכהן המשיח מדם הפר אל אהל מועד (יז) וטבל הכהן אצבעו מן הדם והזה שבע פעמים לפני ה' את פני הפרכת
(6) The priest shall dip his finger in the blood, and sprinkle of the blood seven times before ה', in front of the curtain of the Shrine. (7) The priest shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of aromatic incense, which is in the Tent of Meeting, before ה'; and all the rest of the bull’s blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. (8) He shall remove all the fat from the bull of sin offering: the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is about the entrails; (9) the two kidneys and the fat that is on them, that is at the loins; and the protuberance on the liver, which he shall remove with the kidneys— (10) just as it is removed from the ox of the sacrifice of well-being. The priest shall turn them into smoke on the altar of burnt offering. (11) But the hide of the bull, and all its flesh, as well as its head and legs, its entrails and its dung— (12) all the rest of the bull—he shall carry to a pure place outside the camp, to the ash heap, and burn it up in a wood fire; it shall be burned on the ash heap. (13) If it is the community leadership of Israel that has erred and the matter escapes the notice of the congregation, so that they do any of the things which by יהוה’s commandments ought not to be done, and they realize guilt— (14) when the sin through which they incurred guilt becomes known, the congregation shall offer a bull of the herd as a sin offering, and bring it before the Tent of Meeting. (15) The elders of the community shall lay their hands upon the head of the bull before ה', and the bull shall be slaughtered before ה'. (16) The anointed priest shall bring some of the blood of the bull into the Tent of Meeting, (17) and the priest shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle of it seven times before ה', in front of the curtain.
(ז) וזאת תורת המנחה הקרב אתה בני אהרן לפני ה' אל פני המזבח (ח) והרים ממנו בקמצו מסלת המנחה ומשמנה ואת כל הלבנה אשר על המנחה והקטיר המזבח ריח ניחח אזכרתה לה' (ט) והנותרת ממנה יאכלו אהרן ובניו מצות תאכל במקום קדש בחצר אהל מועד יאכלוה (י) לא תאפה חמץ חלקם נתתי אתה מאשי קדש קדשים הוא כחטאת וכאשם
(7) And this is the ritual of the meal offering: Aaron’s sons shall present it before ה', in front of the altar. (8) A handful of the choice flour and oil of the meal offering shall be taken from it, with all the frankincense that is on the meal offering, and this token portion shall be turned into smoke on the altar as a pleasing odor to ה'. (9) What is left of it shall be eaten by Aaron and his sons; it shall be eaten as unleavened cakes, in the sacred precinct; they shall eat it in the enclosure of the Tent of Meeting. (10) It shall not be baked with leaven; I have given it as their portion from My offerings by fire; it is most holy, like the sin offering and the guilt offering.
(ז) כחטאת כאשם תורה אחת להם הכהן אשר יכפר בו לו יהיה (ח) והכהן המקריב את עלת איש עור העלה אשר הקריב לכהן לו יהיה (ט) וכל מנחה אשר תאפה בתנור וכל נעשה במרחשת ועל מחבת לכהן המקריב אתה לו תהיה
(7) The guilt offering is like the sin offering. The same rule applies to both: it shall belong to the priest who makes expiation thereby. (8) So, too, the priest who offers another person’s burnt offering shall keep the skin of the burnt offering that was offered. (9) Further, any meal offering that is baked in an oven, and any that is prepared in a pan or on a griddle, shall belong to the priest who offers it.
(טז) וטבל הכהן את אצבעו הימנית מן השמן אשר על כפו השמאלית והזה מן השמן באצבעו שבע פעמים לפני ה'
(16) And the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil that is in the palm of his left hand and sprinkle some of the oil with his finger seven times before ה'.
(ב) ויאמר ה' אל משה דבר אל אהרן אחיך ואל יבא בכל עת אל הקדש מבית לפרכת אל פני הכפרת אשר על הארן ולא ימות כי בענן אראה על הכפרת (ג) בזאת יבא אהרן אל הקדש בפר בן בקר לחטאת ואיל לעלה (ד) כתנת בד קדש ילבש ומכנסי בד יהיו על בשרו ובאבנט בד יחגר ובמצנפת בד יצנף בגדי קדש הם ורחץ במים את בשרו ולבשם
(2) ה' said to Moses: Tell your brother Aaron that he is not to come at will into the Shrine behind the curtain, in front of the cover that is upon the ark, lest he die; for I appear in the cloud over the cover. (3) Thus only shall Aaron enter the Shrine: with a bull of the herd for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering.— (4) He shall be dressed in a sacral linen tunic, with linen breeches next to his flesh, and be girt with a linen sash, and he shall wear a linen turban. They are sacral vestments; he shall bathe his body in water and then put them on.—
(ד) את משפטי תעשו ואת חקתי תשמרו ללכת בהם אני ה' אלקיכם (ה) ושמרתם את חקתי ואת משפטי אשר יעשה אתם האדם וחי בהם אני ה' {ס}

(כז) כי את כל התועבת האל עשו אנשי הארץ אשר לפניכם ותטמא הארץ (כח) ולא תקיא הארץ אתכם בטמאכם אתה כאשר קאה את הגוי אשר לפניכם (כט) כי כל אשר יעשה מכל התועבת האלה ונכרתו הנפשות העשת מקרב עמם (ל) ושמרתם את משמרתי לבלתי עשות מחקות התועבת אשר נעשו לפניכם ולא תטמאו בהם אני ה' אלקיכם {פ}
(4) My rules alone shall you observe, and faithfully follow My laws: I ה' am your God. (5) You shall keep My laws and My rules, by the pursuit of which human beings shall live: I am ה'. (6) None of you men shall come near anyone of his own flesh to uncover nakedness: I am ה'. (7) Your father’s nakedness, that is, the nakedness of your mother, you shall not uncover; she is your mother—you shall not uncover her nakedness. (8) Do not uncover the nakedness of your father’s wife; it is the nakedness of your father. (9) The nakedness of your sister—your father’s daughter or your mother’s, whether born into the household or outside—do not uncover their nakedness. (10) The nakedness of your son’s daughter, or of your daughter’s daughter—do not uncover their nakedness; for their nakedness is yours. (11) The nakedness of your father’s wife’s daughter, who was born into your father’s household—she is your sister; do not uncover her nakedness. (12) Do not uncover the nakedness of your father’s sister; she is your father’s flesh. (13) Do not uncover the nakedness of your mother’s sister; for she is your mother’s flesh. (14) Do not uncover the nakedness of your father’s brother: do not approach his wife; she is your aunt. (15) Do not uncover the nakedness of your daughter-in-law: she is your son’s wife; you shall not uncover her nakedness. (16) Do not uncover the nakedness of your brother’s wife; it is the nakedness of your brother. (17) Do not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter; nor shall you take [into your household as a wife] her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter and uncover her nakedness: they are kindred; it is depravity. (18) Do not take [into your household as a wife] a woman as a rival to her sister and uncover her nakedness in the other’s lifetime. (19) Do not come near a woman during her menstrual period of impurity to uncover her nakedness. (20) Do not have carnal relations with your neighbor’s wife and defile yourself with her. (21) Do not allow any of your offspring to be offered up to Molech, and do not profane the name of your God: I am ה'. (22) Do not lie with a male as one lies with a woman; it is an abhorrence. (23) Do not have carnal relations with any beast and defile yourself thereby. Likewise for a woman: she shall not lend herself to a beast to mate with it; it is perversion. (24) Do not defile yourselves in any of those ways, for it is by such that the nations that I am casting out before you defiled themselves. (25) Thus the land became defiled; and I called it to account for its iniquity, and the land spewed out its inhabitants. (26) But you must keep My laws and My rules, and you must not do any of those abhorrent things, neither the citizen nor the stranger who resides among you; (27) for all those abhorrent things were done by the people who were in the land before you, and the land became defiled. (28) So let not the land spew you out for defiling it, as it spewed out the nation that came before you. (29) All who do any of those abhorrent things—such persons shall be cut off from their people. (30) You shall keep My charge not to engage in any of the abhorrent practices that were carried on before you, and you shall not defile yourselves through them: I ה' am your God.
