(15) Laban, Rebekah's brother, said to Jacob, “Just because you are family, should you work for me for free? Tell me, what can I pay you?”
(16) Now Laban had 2 daughters; the the older one's name was Leah, and the younger one's name was Rachel.
(17) Leah had tired eyes. Rachel was beautiful.
(18) Jacob loved Rachel; so he said, “I will work 7 years for your younger daughter Rachel.”
(20) So Jacob worked 7 years to marry Rachel and they seemed only a few days because he loved Rachel so much.
(21) Then Jacob said to Laban, “Give me my wife, for I've finished our agreement, so I may start a family with her.”
(22) And Laban gathered all the people of the town and held a feast.
(23) When evening came, he took his daughter Leah in a veil and brought her to Jacob; and he married her.—
(24) Laban had given his servant Zilpah to his daughter Leah as her maid.—
(25) When morning came, Jacob saw it was Leah! So he said to Laban, “What is this you have done to me? I worked for Rachel! Why did you trick me?”
(26) Laban said, “It is not our custom to marry off the younger daughter before the older daughter.
(27) Wait a week and we will give you Rachel too, so long as you work for me another 7 years.”
(28) Jacob did so; he waited a week and then he married Rachel.—
(30) And Jacob married Rachel also; indeed, he loved Rachel more than Leah. And he worked for Laban another 7 years.
(31) God saw that Leah was unloved and He helped her have babies; but Rachel couldn't get pregnant.
