(ז)...אין מגדלין חזירים בכל מקום. לא יגדל אדם את הכלב , אלא אם כן היה קשור בשלשלת.
(7) ...It is forbidden to raise pigs anywhere. One should not raise a dog unless it is tied with a chain.
(א) ...ומה שאמר לא יגדל חזירים הוא הדין לשאר דברים שאסורין באכילה אבל דבר בחזירים כפי הידוע שהם אפשר לגדל כמו הבקר והצאן.
...And that which is stated 'you may not raise pigs' applies to any animal which is forbidden to eat, the mishnah specifies pigs as it is known that they can be raised in herds like sheep and cattle.

...therefore it seems more fitting to me to say simply that even without the previous explanation that it is biblically prohibited to buy and sell that which is forbidden. this applies to selling for the intent of eating. However, if sold for leather, fats or fire or as a beast of burden it is permitted.

It is taught in a Beraita that Rebbi Nattan say: "how do we know that it is forbidden to have a dangerous dog or an unstable ladder in one's house?" the Torah teaches - do not place blood in your home.
אמר רבי שמעון בן לקיש כל המגדל כלב רע בתוך ביתו מונע חסד מתוך ביתו שנאמר (איוב ו, יד)
Said Rebbi Shimon ben Lakish "whomever raises a dangerous dog in their home prevents kindness from entering their home..."
Rebbi Yishmael says that "one may raise small dogs and cats as well as monkeys and weasels in order to clean the house."
From what? From rats and squirrels.
