פרשת וירא

"It was after these words, and God tested Abraham" (After what?)" Rabbi Yochanan said in the same of Rabbi Yose ben Zimra, after the words of the Satan, as it says, "The boy grew and was weaned..." Satan said before God, "Master of the world, Abraham is old, and You granted him with a child at age 100, and in this entire feast, he didn't have one turtle dove or pigeon to sacrifice before you? This whole feast is just for his son!" God responded, "If I were to ask him to sacrifice his son before me, he would immediately do so." Immediately, "and God tested Abraham and said, take your son..."

Rabbi Levi said, After the words of Yishmael to Yitzchak - Yishmael said to Yitzchak, "I am greater than you in performing Mitzvot, for you were circumcised at 8 days old, and I was already 13 years old!" Yitzchak responded, "You are challenging me on account of one limb? If God were to ask me to sacrifice my entire body, I would do so!" Immediately , "and God tested Abraham..."
