(ו) וַתֹּ֣אמֶר שָׂרָ֔ה צְחֹ֕ק עָ֥שָׂה לִ֖י אֱלֹהִ֑ים כָּל־הַשֹּׁמֵ֖עַ יִֽצְחַק־לִֽי׃ (ז) וַתֹּ֗אמֶר מִ֤י מִלֵּל֙ לְאַבְרָהָ֔ם הֵינִ֥יקָה בָנִ֖ים שָׂרָ֑ה כִּֽי־יָלַ֥דְתִּי בֵ֖ן לִזְקֻנָֽיו׃

...אמנו שרה היתה צנועה יותר מדאי אמר לה אבינו אברהם אין זו שעת הצניעות אלא גלי את דדיך כדי שידעו הכל שהתחיל הקדוש ברוך הוא לעשות נסים גלתה את דדיה והיו נובעות חלב כשני מעינות והיו מטרוניות באות ומניקות את בניהם ממנה...

...Sarah our mother was too modest. Abraham our father said to her 'this is not the time for modesty. Reveal your breasts, so that everyone will know the the Holy One, Blessed by God has begun to do miracles. She revealed her breasts, and they gave out milk like two springs, and other women would come and feed their children from her....

1) As individuals, do we treat childbirth as miraculous, or as a regular event? Does our larger society treat childbirth as miraculous?

2) What are the advantages and disadvantages to keeping our personal and familial medical struggles personal vs. sharing them publicly? Does shame, modesty, or fear of professional reprisal inhibit us from asking for help when we need it?
