(3) This is Miriam, due to her crying and cooing to the newborn, in the manner of women who appease crying children.
(4) The language of screaming, like "now I will cry like a travailing woman" (Isaiah 42:14).
And the king of Egypt said to the Jewish midwives... Rav and Shmuel - one said it was a woman and her daughter and the other said that it was a mother and her daughter in law. The one who said woman and her daughter it is referring to Yocheved and Miriam the one who said woman and her daughter in law is referring to Yocheved and Elisheva. There is a baraita that supports this perspective because there is a baraita that says Shifra is Yocheved. And why is she called Shifra - because she beautified the newborn infant. Another reason, is that Bnei Yisrael were fruitful and multiplied in her time. Puah is Miriam and why is she called Puah because she cried and talked and cooed to the newborn infant in the manner of women who soother a crying infant. Another reason, Puah because she spoke with Ruach Hakodesh and she said in the future my mother will give birth to a son that will save the Jewish people.
1) MIRYAM'S PROPHECY
(a) She said, my mother will have a son who will save Yisrael.
(b) When Moshe was born, the house filled with light. Her father kissed her on the head - 'your prophecy has been fulfilled,'
1. When they put Moshe in the river, he hit her on the head - 'where is your prophecy?!'
2. "His sister stood afar, to know what will happen to him" - to know, what will happen to her prophecy.

And the king of Egypt said to the midwives...Who are the midwives. Rav says a woman and her daughter in law - Yocheved and Elisheva bat Aminadav. And Rabi Shmuel bar Nachman says a woman and her daughter Yocheved and Miriam. That one of their names was Shifra - she beautified the baby when it would come out full of blood. Puah - that she squirted wine into the babies mouth after it came out of its mother. Another thing, Shifra: that B"Y were fruitful and multiplied under her. Puah: that she would cause the newborn to cry out when it was thought to be stillborn. Another thing, Shifra that she beautified her actions before Hashem Another thing, Puah - that she appeared to B"Y for Hashem - she taught B"Y. Puah - she was insolent (hofi’ah panim) toward Pharaoh and looked down her nose at him. She told him: “Woe to you on the day of judgment, when God will come to demand punishment of you.” Pharaoh immediately became enraged and wanted to kill her. Shifra, that she beautified her daughters words to Paraoh and mollified him and said to him: “Do you take notice of her? She is a baby, and knows nothing” (Ex. Rabbah, loc. cit.). Rav Chanina the son of Rav Yitzchak said: Shifra: that she supported Yisrael for Hashem that for them the world was created that it says, By His breath He made the heavens. In another midrashic account, she was called Puah because of her insolence which, in this depiction, was directed against her father Amram. When Pharaoh ordered the Israelite boys to be cast into the Nile, Amram said: “Shall an Israelite lie with his wife for nothing?” He immediately separated from Jochebed and divorced her. When the Israelites saw this action by Amram, who was the head of the Sanhedrin at the time, they also divorced their wives. Puah told her father: “Father, your decree is harsher than that of Pharaoh! He only decreed against the males, but you have decreed against both the males and the females. It is doubtful whether the decree of the wicked Pharaoh will come to pass, but you are righteous, and so your decree will be fulfilled.” Amram immediately took back his wife, and following his lead, all the other Israelite men did the same. Miriam was accordingly given the name of Puah, since she was insolent (hofi’ah panim) to her father
Behold I have taken you out of the land of Egypt from slavery and I sent before you three neviim Moshe for giving over the laws, and Aharon for kapparah and Miriam as the teacher of woman.
1. Now Miriam became a Neviah because at this point the woman were also worthy to see the Shechina until everyone said "This is my G-d"... As our Rabbis teach us even the maidservant saw Hashem by the sea. Therefore, it says all the woman followed after her because the nevuah started with Miriam and all the woman went in her footsteps and all of them were worthy of nevuah. And because nevuah doesn't rest except with people that are happy and woman have "tzar laida" (labor pains) Therefore they took tamberenes in their hands. And all the woman followed after her with tamberenes and drums so that Ruach hakodesh would come to them.
2. And why does it say the sister of Aharon? Because she was equal to him in nevuah but not to Moshe Rabbeinu as it says, not so with My servant Moshe.
WITH TIMBRELS AND WITH DANCES — The righteous women in that generation were confident that God would perform miracles for them and they accordingly had brought timbrels with them from Egypt (Mekhilta d'Rabbi Yishmael 15:20:2).
from the mirrors of the women who had set up the legions: Heb. Israelite women owned mirrors, which they would look into when they adorned themselves. Even these [mirrors] they did not hold back from bringing as a contribution toward the Mishkan, but Moses rejected them because they were made for temptation [i.e., to inspire lustful thoughts]. The Holy One, blessed is He, said to him, “Accept [them], for these are more precious to Me than anything because through them the women set up many legions [i.e., through the children they gave birth to] in Egypt.” When their husbands were weary from back-breaking labor, they [the women] would go and bring them food and drink and give them to eat. Then they [the women] would take the mirrors and each one would see herself with her husband in the mirror, and she would seduce him with words, saying, “I am more beautiful than you.” And in this way they aroused their husbands desire and would copulate with them, conceiving and giving birth there, as it is said: “Under the apple tree I aroused you” (Song 8:5). This is [the meaning of] what is בְּמַרְאֹתהַצֹבְאֹת [lit., the mirrors of those who set up legions]. From these [the mirrors], the washstand was made, because its purpose was to make peace between a man and his wife. [How so?] By giving a drink from the water that was in it [the washstand] to [a woman] whose husband had warned her [not to stay in private with a certain man] and she secluded herself [with him anyway. The water would test her and either destroy her or prove her innocence. See Num. 5:11-31]. You should know that they were actually mirrors, because it is said: “The copper of the waving was seventy talents… From that he made…” (Exod. 38:29, 30), but the washstand and its base were not mentioned there [among the things produced from the seventy talents. Thus,] you have learned that the copper of the washstand was not of the copper of the waving. So did Rabbi Tanchuma expound [on the matter] (Midrash Tanchuma, Pekudei 9; Num. Rabbah 9:14). And so did Onkelos render: בְּמֶחְזְיַתנְשַׁיָא [“the mirrors of the women”], which is the Aramaic translation of מַרְאוֹת, mirrors in French. So we find in Isaiah (3:23) וְהַגִּלְיֹנִים (sic), which we render: וּמַחְזְיָתָא, and the mirrors.

Remember what the Lord, your God, did to Miriam: If you wish to take precautions against being stricken with tzara’ath, then do not speak לָשׁוֹן הָרַע [slander, derogatory remarks]. Remember what was done to Miriam, who spoke against her brother [Moses] and was stricken with lesions [of tzara’ath] (see Num. 12:1-16). - [Sifrei 24: 141]
