Proverbs 28:21
הַכֵּר פָּנִים לֹא טוֹב וְעַל פַּת לֶחֶם יִפְשַׁע גָּבֶר:
To be partial is not right; a person may do wrong for a piece of bread. [JPS translation edited for gender neutrality]

Suggested Discussion Questions:

1. What is the connection between the two parts of this verse?

2. How much wrongdoing are we willing to tolerate from those who are desperate? Are there limits?

3. Should are justice system allow for leniency in such cases, or should all be judged equally?
