About This Text

Author: Shimon Gershon Rosenberg
Composed: Jerusalem, Israel, 1981 CE
Panekha Avakesh (“Your Face I Seek”) is a collection of sermons delivered by the religious postmodern Israeli thinker Rav Shimon Gershon Rosenberg - known as Rav Shagar for his acronym - throughout the year of 1981-1982. During this period, Rav Shagar served as the interim head of yeshiva at Yeshivat HaKotel, and these sermons were delivered bi-weekly to students and to guests that would come to hear him. The sermons often touch on events of the period, such as Israel’s withdrawal from the Sinai Peninsula and the First Lebanon War (in which many of the yeshiva’s students fought - including two who were killed).
