About Mareh HaPanim on Jerusalem Talmud

Mareh HaPanim (“Showing of the Face”) is an 18th-century analytic commentary on the Jerusalem Talmud by Rabbi Moshe Margalit, who also composed the Penei Moshe commentary. Similar in style to the commentary of Tosafot on the Babylonian Talmud, Mareh Panim compares parallel talmudic passages (in this case, usually parallel passages in the Babylonian Talmud), analyzing differences using logic and other talmudic commentaries. The commentary is printed underneath the talmudic text in some printed editions of the Jerusalem Talmud.
