1 Kings 18

(כ) וַיִּשְׁלַ֥ח אַחְאָ֖ב בְּכָל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּקְבֹּ֥ץ אֶת־הַנְּבִיאִ֖ים אֶל־הַ֥ר הַכַּרְמֶֽל׃ (כא) וַיִּגַּ֨שׁ אֵלִיָּ֜הוּ אֶל־כָּל־הָעָ֗ם וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ עַד־מָתַ֞י אַתֶּ֣ם פֹּסְחִים֮ עַל־שְׁתֵּ֣י הַסְּעִפִּים֒ אִם־יי הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ לְכ֣וּ אַחֲרָ֔יו וְאִם־הַבַּ֖עַל לְכ֣וּ אַחֲרָ֑יו וְלֹֽא־עָנ֥וּ הָעָ֛ם אֹת֖וֹ דָּבָֽר׃

I Kings 18:20-21

(20) And Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel. (21) And Elijah came near unto all the people, and said: ‘How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.’ And the people answered him not a word.

Psalms 82:1-8

(1) A Psalm of Asaph. God standeth in the congregation of God; In the midst of the judges He judgeth: (2) 'How long will ye judge unjustly, And respect the persons of the wicked? Selah (3) Judge the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and destitute. (4) Rescue the poor and needy; Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked. (5) They know not, neither do they understand; They go about in darkness; All the foundations of the earth are moved. (6) I said: Ye are godlike beings, And all of you sons of the Most High. (7) Nevertheless ye shall die like men, And fall like one of the princes.' (8) Arise, O God, judge the earth; For Thou shalt possess all the nations.

Deuteronomy 32:7-10

(7) Remember the days of old, Consider the years of many generations; Ask thy father, and he will declare unto thee, Thine elders, and they will tell thee. (8) When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when He separated the children of men, He set the borders of the peoples according to the number of the children of Israel. (9) For the portion of the LORD is His people, Jacob the lot of His inheritance. (10) He found him in a desert land, and in the waste, a howling wilderness; He compassed him about, He cared for him, He kept him as the apple of His eye.

On v.8, the Septuagint reads "set the borders of the people according to the number of gods."

רמב"ן על דברים ל״ב:ח׳:א׳

(א) וטעם למספר בני ישראל - כי צורת יעקב חקוקה בכסא הכבוד, והוא סוד גדול.

Ramban on Deuteronomy 32:8:1

The reason of "According to the number of the children of Israel" - Because the figure of Jacob (i.e. the Israelites) are apportioned to the throne of glory, and this is a great secret.
