Does Judaism Allow Little White Lies?

Question #1: Do we have to tell the truth? Why?
Question #2: When are we allowed to lie?
מִדְּבַר־שֶׁקֶר תִּרְחָק וְנָקִי וְצַדִּיק אַל־תַּהֲרֹג כִּי לֹא־אַצְדִּיק רָשָׁע׃
מנין לתלמיד שיושב לפני רבו ורואה זכות לעני וחוב לעשיר מנין שלא ישתוק תלמוד לומר (שמות כג, ז) מדבר שקר תרחק
מנין לתלמיד שרואה את רבו שטועה בדין שלא יאמר אמתין לו עד שיגמרנו ואסתרנו ואבננו משלי כדי שיקרא הדין על שמי ת"ל מדבר שקר תרחק
If a student who is sitting before his teacher as he rules on a lawsuit and sees that the poor person should wind the case and the rich person, legally, should lose the case, is he allowed to remain silent since the rich person might be very powerful? No. We learn it from the verse: “Distance yourself from a false matter.”
What if a student sees that his or her teacher made a mistake in deciding an issue of Jewish law. Could he/she quietly come back and fix the matter, taking credit for himself or do you need to speak up and publicly argue with your teacher? We learn from the verse “Distance yourself from a false matter.”
(יב) וַתִּצְחַ֥ק שָׂרָ֖ה בְּקִרְבָּ֣הּ לֵאמֹ֑ר אַחֲרֵ֤י בְלֹתִי֙ הָֽיְתָה־לִּ֣י עֶדְנָ֔ה וַֽאדֹנִ֖י זָקֵֽן׃
(12) And Sarah laughed to herself, saying, “Now that I am withered, am I to have enjoyment—with my husband so old?”
(13) Then the LORD said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Shall I in truth bear a child, old as I am?’
(2) ואני זקנתי I BEING OLD — God changed Sarah's words for the sake of peace, for she had said “with my husband so old” (Genesis Rabbah 48:18).
(ד) כיצד מרקדין לפני הכלה. ב״ש אומרים כלה כמות שהיא. וב״ה אומרים כלה נאה וחסודה. אמרו להן ב״ש לב״ה לדבריכם אפי׳ חיגרת או סומא יאמרו לה כלה נאה וחסודה. והתורה אמרה (שמות כג) מדבר שקר תרחק אמרו להן בית הלל לב״ש הרי שלקח מקח רע מן השוק ישבחנו בעיניו או יגננו בעיניו. הוי אומר ישבחנו בעיניו. מכאן אמרו חכמים תהא דעתו של אדם מעורבת עם הבריות
How should we describe the bride as we are dancing at her wedding? Beit Shammai says...tell it like it is. Beit Hillel says...always say she is beautiful and modest. So Beit Shammai asked Beit Hillel, "Oh yeah, what if she is blind and lame? Aren't you supposed to avoid lying?" Beit Hillel replied, "What if your friend made a bad purchase in the market. Would you say his purchase was great or terrible? Of course, you'd try to make him feel good." From here, the Sages taught, "always let people think well of you."
