(1) On the third new moon after the Israelites had gone forth from the land of Egypt, on that very day, they entered the wilderness of Sinai. (2) Having journeyed from Rephidim, they entered the wilderness of Sinai and encamped in the wilderness. Israel encamped there in front of the mountain...
(20) The LORD came down upon Mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain, and the LORD called Moses to the top of the mountain and Moses went up.

(3) And the many peoples shall go and say: “Come, Let us go up to the Mountain of the LORD, To the House of the God of Jacob; That He may instruct us in His ways, And that we may walk in His paths.” For instruction shall come forth from Zion, The word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
R. Yitzchak stood up and read in the Torah: "These are the festivals of Hananiah the nephew of R. Yehoshua." They said to him: "These are the festivals of the Lord!" He said to them, "That's our version." R. Natan got up and completed: "For from Babylonia will go out the Torah, and the Word of the Lord from Nehar Paqod." They said to him, "For from Zion will go out the Torah, and the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem!" He said, "That is our version."

גם בני בארי שהיו קורין עליהן כי מבארי תצא תורה ודבר ה' מאוטרנט הם נוהגין כמוני
Sefer HaYashar [Of Rabbenu Tam] (Repentance) 46
Even the people of Bari [on Italian coast], about when they say, "For from Bari comes Torah, and the Word of the Lord from Otrano" hold like me.
Responsa of Rivash, 376
With regards to the honor of the Sages of Ashkenaz and Sefarad ... "From Sefarad Torah will go forth, and the Word of the Lord from Ashkenaz." We drink their waters and they explain to us all that is hidden. And without them, the Talmud would be like words of a closed book.
Responsa of the Rosh 85:10
And this is what appears to me according to my humble understanding and due to the lack of books in this land. Our teachers, "Will teach us in his ways, and we will walk in his path, for from you Torah will go forth, and the word of the Lord from your study-house."

Rabbi Hanin D'Tziprin opened and expounded: This is like a mound of dust (?)- What does the stupid one say? "Who can reap all of this??" And what does the wise one say? "I will reap two piles (?) today, and two tomorrow, until I have reaped the whole thing!"
Similarly, what does a stupid one say? "Who can learn all of this Torah?? There are 3 whole sections of Nezikin (the three Bavas)! There are three sections about vessels!" But what does the wise one say? "I will learn two halakhot today, and two halakhot tomorrow until I have learned the whole Torah."

When Rabbi Ḥanina and Rabbi Ḥiyya would debate matters of Torah, Rabbi Ḥanina would say to Rabbi Ḥiyya: Do you think you can debate with me? Heaven forbid! If the Torah were forgotten from the Jewish people, I could restore it with my powers of analysis and intellectual acumen.
Rabbi Ḥiyya said to Rabbi Ḥanina: Do you think you can debate with me? You cannot compare yourself to me, as I am acting to ensure that the Torah will not be forgotten by the Jewish people.
Rabbi Ḥiyya elaborated: What do I do to this end? I go and sow flax seeds and twine nets with the flax, and then I hunt deer and feed their meat to orphans. Next I prepare parchment from their hides and I write the five books of the Torah on them. I go to a city and teach five children the five books, one book per child, and I teach six other children the six orders of the Mishna, and I say to them: Until I return and come here, read each other the Torah and teach each other the Mishna. This is how I act to ensure that the Torah will not be forgotten by the Jewish people.
