Ha'azinu is a poem previewed last Shabbat when we read from Parshat Vayelech

(ל) וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר מֹשֶׁ֗ה בְּאׇזְנֵי֙ כׇּל־קְהַ֣ל יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֶת־דִּבְרֵ֥י הַשִּׁירָ֖ה הַזֹּ֑את עַ֖ד תֻּמָּֽם׃ {פ}

(30) Then Moses recited the words of this poem to the very end, in the hearing of the whole congregation of Israel:

(1) את דברי השירה הזאת, “the words of this song;” this is a reference to the next portion, Haazinu, the major part of which consists of Moses’ parting song/poem to his nation. The subject is that G-d had provided for them in the desert as well as in the land of Israel, and how in spite of this they would forsake Him and be exiled, until eventually they would be redeemed from exile.

(4) The Rock!—whose deeds are perfect, Yea, all God’s ways are just; A faithful God, never false, True and upright indeed. (5) Unworthy children— That crooked, perverse generation— Their baseness has played God false.

God is the Rock: strength, lasting -- reliable, 'unbreakable' and is just, righteous, and upright -- In contrast: The Israelites are unworthy, 'crooked' and 'perverse' (Are we back to the days of the Generation of the Flood?)

THE ROCK, HIS WORK IS PERFECT — Although He is strong (הצור!) yet when He brings punishment upon those who transgress His will, He does not bring it in a flood of anger, but in deliberate judgment, because תמים פעלו HIS WORK IS PERFECT. A GOD OF FAITHFULNESS — faithful to recompense the righteous their righteousness in the world to come; and even though He defers their recompense, in the end He will prove faithful (אמן) to His promise. AND WITHOUT INJUSTICE — even to the wicked He pays the reward for their meritorious deeds, but in this world (Sifrei Devarim 307:11; cf. Rashi on Deuteronomy 7:10). (4) צדיק וישר הוא — The meaning is: All acknowledge His judgment to be just (צדיק), and this is befitting and right of them (ישר), i.e., He is declared צדיק by the mouth of men, וישר, and it is right for them to declare Him צדיק, as righteous.

What does the description of the Israelites mean?

(1) שחת לו — Take it as the Targum has it: חבילו להון לא לה “Corruption is theirs, not His”. HIS CHILDREN, THEIR FAULT — i.e., they were His children, and the corruption which they wrought is their fault. (3) בניו מומם means: it was the fault of His children not His fault. (4) דור עקש means, [A] CROOKED AND PERVERTED [GENERATION]. עקש has the same meaning as the verb in (Micah 3:9) “and pervert (יעקשו) all equity”...

NO; HIS CHILDREN’S IS THE BLEMISH. Lo banav (no, his children’s) means those who say that they are not his children. Scripture similarly states, Children in whom is no faithfulness (v. 20). Its meaning is that they do not admit that God created them. Although they might profess their belief verbally, they do not believe it in their hearts. The fact that they do not fear God is proof of their lack of belief. The lamed of lo (his) serves itself and another word along with it. It is to be prefixed to the word mumam (the blemish). The meaning of lemumam is, because of their blemish, their blemish consisting in being A generation crooked and perverse. --Ibn Ezra
AND PERVERSE. The meaning of u-fetaltol (and perverse) is he grows strong and triumphant in his crookedness.--Ibn Ezra
...although Moses, when accepting the conversion of the mixed multitude to Judaism had meant to sanctify the name of G’d, the fact was that instead of becoming a shining example to the world, these people had corrupted what would otherwise have been a kingdom of Priests. They had re-introduced idolatry among these people so recently weaned from it. Sforno
The mixed multitude - Seforno goes back to a standard critique - it is the mixed multitude, the outsiders who became insiders, that joined Israel, that poisoned our ancestors' souls.
His children have become blemished, have caused it themselves;” Compare Leviticus 22,25, (according to Seforno) כי משחתם בהם מום בם, “for their corruption is within them, not only external.” - Chikuni
It is tragic to be a witness to all kinds of heresy being rampant during these generations and whenever someone comes along and tries to straighten out the misguided thinking of these heretics they become reinforced and even more entrenched in their heresy. -- Or Ha'Chaim
Or Ha'Chaim laments what he perceives as the same behaviors and thinking in the Torah verse happening in his own times (1696-1743)
We hold that the universe exists because the Creator wills it so; that mankind is low in rank as compared with the uppermost portion of the universe, viz., with the spheres and the stars: but, as regards the angels, there cannot be any real comparison between man and angels, although man is the highest of all beings on earth; i.e., of all beings formed of the four elements. Man’s existence is nevertheless a great boon to him, and his distinction and perfection is a divine gift. The numerous evils to which individual persons are exposed are due to the defects existing in the persons themselves. We complain and seek relief from our own faults: we suffer from the evils which we, by our own free will, inflict on ourselves and ascribe them to God, who is far from being connected with them! Comp. “Is destruction his [work]? No. Ye [who call yourselves] wrongly his sons, you who are a perverse and crooked generation” (Deut. 32:5). This is explained by Solomon, who says, “The foolishness of man perverteth his way, and his heart fretteth against the Lord” (Prov. 19:3). - Maimonides, Guide for the Perplexed, Part 3, 12:3
