Sasson and Simcha - Simcha is the gladness of the heart, it's an internal feeling, and Sasson is dancing and festivities that are done to spur the miraculous feelings of rejoicing and delight.

"Sasson comes after simcha" as it says in the Babylonian Talmud Mesekhet Sukkah 48b. Simcha is the feeling of one in pursuit of a goal. Sasson - is the feeling once you have obtained the goal.
