(2) “Send agents to scout the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelite people; send one participant from each of their ancestral tribes, each one a chieftain among them.” (3) So Moses, by יהוה’s command, sent them out from the wilderness of Paran, all of them being men of consequence, leaders of the Israelites.
SKIT:
JOSHUA:
Hi Moses, I brought everyone you asked for... here are the heads of all the Israelite tribes.
MOSES:
Thank you, Joshua. Tribal leaders, thank you all for being here. I have a very important job for all of you.
LEADER 1:
Of course, Moses (sarcastic). Happy to be here. Its not like I was busy or anything.
LEADER 2:
Yeah, Moses. Whatever this job is it better be good... we were just about to win a game of Fornite!
MOSES:
Oh, this job is much better than Fortnite... I need you to go into the Land of Israel, and bring back a detailed report of everything you see.
JOSHUA:
Thats right. We will need to know where the good farmland is, where the strong armies are, and where the best place Falafel and Schwarma places are!
LEADER 1:
Ok, ok. This sounds like an interesting mission. How many people should we bring with us?
MOSES;
We will need four types of people for each group... (1) scout leaders (2) cartographers [those are people that draw maps!] (3) spies, and (4) gatherers.
LEADER 2:
Let me guess... we all have to work together as a group.
JOSHUA:
Correct. We will be splitting everyone up into ohalim, and each group will present their findings to Moses at the end of the mission.
MOSES:
Ok, good luck everyone. Lech Lecha... I mean Shlach Lecha!

INSTRUCTIONS:
Gather as an ohel. Madrichim/Machon will help assign each member of the group to one job: scout leaders, cartographers (map makers), spies, or gatherers.
The scout leaders will lead the group to the Gan (which is up the low road, behind the barn).
The cartographers will make a map of the route and note down key locations/items on the map.
The spies will look around the new land with a very critical eye and note all the negative aspects of the land.
The gatherers will look around the new land with an appreciative eye and will make note of the good things in the land, and bring back a sample or two of what they found to be beneficial.

(17) When Moses sent them to scout the land of Canaan, he said to them, “Go up there into the Negeb and on into the hill country, (18) and see what kind of country it is. Are the people who dwell in it strong or weak, few or many? (19) Is the country in which they dwell good or bad? Are the towns they live in open or fortified? (20) Is the soil rich or poor? Is it wooded or not? And take pains to bring back some of the fruit of the land.”—Now it happened to be the season of the first ripe grapes.
The ohelim will have 15-20 min to perform their jobs (scouts, cartography, spies and gathers) and then they will have 1-2 minutes each to report back to the larger group about whether this new land is suitable for Moshavah to explore and settle on.

Such were their faces. As for their wings, they were separated: above, each had two touching those of the others, while the other two covered its body.
