(6) and the children scrambled (yitrotzatzu) inside her: Rabbi Yochanan and Reish Lakish [spoke about this]: Rabbi Yochanan said, "This one ran (ratz) to kill that one, and this one ran to call this one." Reish Lakish said, "This one would permit the [prohibitions] of that one and that one would permit the [prohibitions] of this one." Rabbi Berachiya [said] in the name of Rabbi Levi, "That you should not say it was [only] from when he came out of his mother's womb that he contended with him; but rather while he was in his mother's womb, his fist was extended to greet him, as you will say (Psalms 38:4), 'The evildoers are estranged from the womb.'"

After thirteen years, this one would go to the study halls and this one would go to the the houses of idolatry." Rabbi Elazar said, "A man must take care of his son until [he is] thirteen. From then on, he needs to say, 'Blessed is the One who has exempted me from the punishment of this one.'"

In reply, he brought a piece of paper, took a quill and wrote upon it, And after that came forth his brother (Jacob), and his hand had hold on (Esau's) heel. (Genesis 25:26). Upon this the comment was made: See how ancient words become new in the mouth of the Sage!
