On the fifth day . . . He created "a single wheel on the ground" (Ezek. 1:15)
whose head [reached so far as to be] parallel to the holy hayyot.
He is an interpreter between Israel and their Father in Heaven, as Scripture says,
"And there was a single wheel on the ground next to the creatures."
His name is Sandalphon and he binds crowns for the Master of the Glory out of the
"holy," "blessed be He," and "Amen, may His great name be [blessed]" which Israel
offer as responses in the synagogue. He adjures the crown by the explicit name and it
ascends to the Lord's head.
For this reason the sages said that anyone who misses a "holy," blessed be He," or "Amen, may His great name be blessed" causes the crown to be diminished and is liable to be banned until he will repent and bring a sacrifice before the righteous in the future that is to come.
