(1) A psalm of David. A song for the dedication of the House.

(2) I exalt You, Adonai, for You have lifted me up, and not let my enemies rejoice over me.

(3) Adonai, my God, I cried out to You,
and You healed me.

(4) Adonai, You lifted my soul up from Sheol, preserved me from going down into the Pit.

(5) O you faithful of God, sing out, and praise the holy name.

(6) For God's anger lasts just a moment,
and when pleased, there is life. One may cry at night but rejoice in the morning
(7) I said, when at peace, “I can never be shaken,”

(8) Adonai, at Your will, you raised up strong mountains. When You hid Your face, I panicked.

(9) I will call to You, Adonai; to my God I will plead,

(10) “What profit is there from my silence,
from my descent into the Pit? Can dust praise You and declare Your faithfulness?

(11) Hear, O God, and be merciful with me; O Adonai, help me!”

(12) You turned my lament into dancing,
you undid my sackcloth and girded me with joy,

(13) that [my] whole being might sing hymns to You endlessly; Adonai my God, I will praise You forever.

ואני—[...] כאשר יקרה לבריא בגופו ובחזקתו שיחשוב שככה יהיה תמיד ולא יבוא לו חולי, שיחלש כחו.

I [said, when at peace]—[...] It happens that a healthy person whose body is strong thinks that it will always be this way, and illness will never come to him, that his strength would diminish.

And I said in my tranquility In my tranquility, I thought that I would never falter. However, the matter is not in my power, but in the power of the Holy One of Blessing. With God's will, my mountain was upright, my greatness was [my] might, but when God's face was hidden from me, I was immediately frightened.

(יח) צוּר יְלָדְךָ תֶּשִׁי וַתִּשְׁכַּח אֵל מְחֹלְלֶךָ׃

(18) You neglected the Rock who begot you,
Forgot the God who labored to bring you forth.

Here's the Thing
Rabbi Rachel Barenblat
Here's the thing my son doesn't know:
I may be mom, but some days I too
want to fling myself on the ground
and rage against whatever doesn't unfold
as I imagined. Inside my ribcage
angry bees pound to be released.
All I want is for You to notice me wailing
and tell me everything's going to be okay.
Every day I choose again to trust
in Your mercy and compassion.
When I'm clumsy and frustrated
by every mistake, You don't mind.
Cradle me, God. Let me pour my hopes
into Your listening ear.
Help me turn my tantrums into dancing,
my anxieties into boundless joy.
