Psalm 13 Study

(1) For the leader. A psalm of David.

(2) How long, O Eternal; will You forget me forever?
How long will You hide Your face from me?

(3) How long will I have worries on my mind, grief in my heart all day?
How long will my enemy loom over me?

(4) Look! Answer me, Adonai, my God!
Restore the light to my eyes,
lest I sleep death;

(5) lest my enemy say, “I won,”
my foes exult because I stumble.

(6) But I trust in Your kindness,
my heart will rejoice in Your deliverance.
I will sing to God, who has dealt kindly with me.

How long - The meaning is: If there would be no deliverance from his enemies, it would seem in the eyes of humanity, that God had forgotten them, or doesn't know what happened to them.

Look! - As opposed to turning / hiding Your face

But I - I have no kindness in myself which I trust. Rather [I trust] in Your kindness, and on account of this trust, my heart rejoices.
