(3) And God said: ‘Let there be light.’ And there was light. (4) And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. (5) And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.

(6) And God said: ‘Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.’ (7) And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. (8) And God called the firmament Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.

(9) And God said: ‘Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear.’ And it was so. (10) And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas; and God saw that it was good.

1. What patterns do you see so far?

2. How do our words and intentions impact our deeds?

3. When do we know if something is "good?"

And it was so that Rabbi Tarfon and the elders were circling a point in the House of Natazeh and they were asking this question before them: Which is greater? Learing Torah or doing Mitzvot?

R. Tarfon answered: Mitzvot.

R. Akiva answered: Learning Torah

Rabanan: Learning is greater, for learning leads to mitzvot.**

1. What do you think is greater: learning about good deeds (the whys behind them) or actually doing good deeds?

2. How do we utilize our words to inspire others to act?

3. If our words are not as powerful as our actions, how do we give them more weight so that we inspire others to understand the WHY behind our actions (of leading by example?)
