וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֵׄלָ֔יׄוׄ אַיֵּ֖ה שָׂרָ֣ה אִשְׁתֶּ֑ךָ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר הִנֵּ֥ה בָאֹֽהֶל׃

Genesis 18:9

They said to him, “Where is your wife Sarah?” And he replied, “There, in the tent.”

Genesis 18:10

Then one said, “I will return to you next year,^*next year Heb. ka-‘et ḥayyah; cf. Gen. 17.21; 2 Kings 4.16–17. and your wife Sarah shall have a son!” Sarah was listening at the entrance of the tent, which was behind him.

Genesis 18:11

Now Abraham and Sarah were old, advanced in years; Sarah had stopped having her periods.^*her periods Heb. ’oraḥ ka-nashim, lit. “the way of women”; NJPS “the periods of women.” (Perhaps, in light of Akkadian ’arḥu “month,” the lit. meaning is actually “women’s menses.”)

Genesis 18:12
