Conversations in the Arc of Life
(5) Before I created you in the womb, I selected you;
Before you were born, I consecrated you;
I appointed you a prophet concerning the nations.
(10) You drew me-a from the womb,
made me secure at my mother’s breast.
(11) I became Your charge at birth;
from my mother’s womb You have been my God.
(12) Do not be far from me,
for trouble is near,
and there is none to help.
(13) Like one whom a mother comforts.
So I will comfort you:
You shall find comfort in Jerusalem.
(7) Be not mindful of my youthful sins and transgressions;
in keeping with Your faithfulness consider what is in my favor,
as befits Your goodness, O LORD.
(2) Go proclaim to Jerusalem: Thus said GOD:
I accounted to your favor
The devotion of your youth,
Your love as a bride—
How you followed Me in the wilderness,
In a land not sown.
(25) Whom else have I in heaven?
And having You, I want no one on earth.
(26) My body and mind fail;
but God is the stay of my mind, my portion forever.
(כא) וְאֵרַשְׂתִּ֥יךְ לִ֖י לְעוֹלָ֑ם וְאֵרַשְׂתִּ֥יךְ לִי֙ בְּצֶ֣דֶק וּבְמִשְׁפָּ֔ט וּבְחֶ֖סֶד וּֽבְרַחֲמִֽים׃ (כב) וְאֵרַשְׂתִּ֥יךְ לִ֖י בֶּאֱמוּנָ֑ה וְיָדַ֖עַתְּ אֶת־יי׃ {פ}
(21) And I will espouse you forever:
I will espouse you with righteousness and justice,
And with goodness and mercy,
(22) And I will espouse you with faithfulness;
Then you shall be devoted to GOD.
(7) Where can I escape from Your spirit?
Where can I flee from Your presence?
(8) If I ascend to heaven, You are there;
if I descend to Sheol, You are there too.
(1) I responded to those who did not ask,
I was at hand to those who did not seek Me;
I said, “Here I am, here I am,”
To a nation that did not invoke My name.
(2) God, You are my God;
I search for You,
my soul thirsts for You,
my body yearns for You,
as a parched and thirsty land that has no water.
(3) I shall behold You in the sanctuary,
and see Your might and glory,
(12) When you call Me, and come and pray to Me, I will give heed to you. (13) You will search for Me and find Me, if only you seek Me wholeheartedly. (14) I will be at hand for you—declares GOD —and I will restore your fortunes. And I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places to which I have banished you—declares GOD —and I will bring you back to the place from which I have exiled you.
(9) Do not cast me off in old age;
when my strength fails, do not forsake me!
(ד) וְעַד־זִקְנָה֙ אֲנִ֣י ה֔וּא וְעַד־שֵׂיבָ֖ה אֲנִ֣י אֶסְבֹּ֑ל אֲנִ֤י עָשִׂ֙יתִי֙ וַאֲנִ֣י אֶשָּׂ֔א וַאֲנִ֥י אֶסְבֹּ֖ל וַאֲמַלֵּֽט׃ {ס}
(4) Till you grow old, I will still be the same;
When you turn gray, it is I who will carry;
I was the Maker, and I will be the Bearer;
And I will carry and rescue [you].
(23) Yet I was always with You,
You held my right hand;
(24) You guided me by Your counsel
and led me toward honor.-c
