(יא) עֲנִיָּ֥ה סֹעֲרָ֖ה לֹ֣א נֻחָ֑מָה הִנֵּ֨ה אָנֹכִ֜י מַרְבִּ֤יץ בַּפּוּךְ֙ אֲבָנַ֔יִךְ וִֽיסַדְתִּ֖יךְ בַּסַּפִּירִֽים׃ (יב) וְשַׂמְתִּ֤י כַּֽדְכֹד֙ שִׁמְשֹׁתַ֔יִךְ וּשְׁעָרַ֖יִךְ לְאַבְנֵ֣י אֶקְדָּ֑ח וְכׇל־גְּבוּלֵ֖ךְ לְאַבְנֵי־חֵֽפֶץ׃ (יג) וְכׇל־בָּנַ֖יִךְ לִמּוּדֵ֣י ה' וְרַ֖ב שְׁל֥וֹם בָּנָֽיִךְ׃ (יד) בִּצְדָקָ֖ה תִּכּוֹנָ֑נִי רַחֲקִ֤י מֵעֹ֙שֶׁק֙ כִּי־לֹ֣א תִירָ֔אִי וּמִ֨מְּחִתָּ֔ה כִּ֥י לֹֽא־תִקְרַ֖ב אֵלָֽיִךְ׃
(1) Shout, O barren one,
You who bore no child!
Shout aloud for joy,
You who did not travail!
For the children of the wife forlorn
Shall outnumber those of the espoused
—said the LORD. (2) Enlarge the site of your tent,
Extend the size of your dwelling,-a
Do not stint!
Lengthen the ropes, and drive the pegs firm. (3) For you shall spread out to the right and the left;
Your offspring shall dispossess nations
And shall people the desolate towns.
(4) Fear not, you shall not be shamed;
Do not cringe, you shall not be disgraced.
For you shall forget
The reproach of your youth,
And remember no more
The shame of your widowhood. (5) For He who made you will espouse you—
His name is “LORD of Hosts.”
The Holy One of Israel will redeem you—
He is called “God of all the Earth.”
(6) The LORD has called you back
As a wife forlorn and forsaken.
Can one cast off the wife of his youth?
—said your God. (7) For a little while I forsook you,
But with vast love I will bring you back. (8) In slight anger, for a moment,
I hid My face from you;
But with kindness everlasting
I will take you back in love
—said the LORD your Redeemer. (9) For this to Me is like the waters of Noah:
As I swore that the waters of Noah
Nevermore would flood the earth,
So I swear that I will not
Be angry with you or rebuke you. (10) For the mountains may move
And the hills be shaken,
But my loyalty shall never move from you,
Nor My covenant of friendship be shaken
—said the LORD, who takes you back in love.
(11) Unhappy, storm-tossed one, uncomforted!
I will lay carbuncles as your building stones
And make your foundations of sapphires. (12) I will make your battlements of rubies,
Your gates of precious stones,
The whole encircling wall of gems. (13) And all your children shall be disciples of the LORD,
And great shall be the happiness of your children; (14) You shall be established through righteousness.
You shall be safe from oppression,
And shall have no fear;
From ruin, and it shall not come near you. (15) Surely no harm can be done
Without My consent:
Whoever would harm you
Shall fall because of you. (16) It is I who created the smith
To fan the charcoal fire
And produce the tools for his work;
So it is I who create
The instruments of havoc. (17) No weapon formed against you
Shall succeed,
And every tongue that contends with you at law
You shall defeat.
Such is the lot of the servants of the LORD,
Such their triumph through Me
—declares the LORD.

(1) The prophecies of Isaiah son of Amoz, who prophesied concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
(2) Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth,
For the LORD has spoken:
“I reared children and brought them up—
And they have rebelled against Me! (3) An ox knows its owner,
An ass its master’s crib:
Israel does not know,
My people takes no thought.”
(4) Ah, sinful nation!
People laden with iniquity!
Brood of evildoers!
Depraved children!
They have forsaken the LORD,
Spurned the Holy One of Israel,
Turned their backs [on Him].
(5) Why do you seek further beatings,
That you continue to offend?
Every head is ailing,
And every heart is sick. (6) From head to foot
No spot is sound:
All bruises, and welts,
And festering sores—
Not pressed out, not bound up,
Not softened with oil. (7) Your land is a waste,
Your cities burnt down;
Before your eyes, the yield of your soil
Is consumed by strangers—
A wasteland as overthrown by strangers!-a (8) Fair Zion is left
Like a booth in a vineyard,
Like a hut in a cucumber field,
Like a city beleaguered. (9) Had not the LORD of Hosts
Left us some survivors,
We should be like Sodom,
Another Gomorrah.
(10) Hear the word of the LORD,
You chieftains of Sodom;
Give ear to our God’s instruction,
You folk of Gomorrah! (11) “What need have I of all your sacrifices?”
Says the LORD.
“I am sated with burnt offerings of rams,
And suet of fatlings,
And blood of bulls;
And I have no delight
In lambs and he-goats. (12) That you come to appear before Me—
Who asked that of you?
Trample My courts (13) no more;
Bringing oblations is futile,-c
Incense is offensive to Me.
New moon and sabbath,
Proclaiming of solemnities,
Assemblies with iniquity,-d
I cannot abide. (14) Your new moons and fixed seasons
Fill Me with loathing;
They are become a burden to Me,
I cannot endure them. (15) And when you lift up your hands,
I will turn My eyes away from you;
Though you pray at length,
I will not listen.
Your hands are stained with crime— (16) Wash yourselves clean;
Put your evil doings
Away from My sight.
Cease to do evil; (17) Learn to do good.
Devote yourselves to justice;
Aid the wronged.-e
Uphold the rights of the orphan;
Defend the cause of the widow.
(18) “Come, let us reach an understanding,-e
—says the LORD.
Be your sins like crimson,
They can turn snow-white;
Be they red as dyed wool,
They can become like fleece.” (19) If, then, you agree and give heed,
You will eat the good things of the earth; (20) But if you refuse and disobey,
You will be devoured [by] the sword.-f—
For it was the LORD who spoke.
(21) Alas, she has become a harlot,
The faithful city
That was filled with justice,
Where righteousness dwelt—
But now murderers. (22) Your silver has turned to dross;
Your wine is cut with water.-e (23) Your rulers are rogues
And cronies of thieves,
Every one avid for presents
And greedy for gifts;
They do not judge the case of the orphan,
And the widow’s cause never reaches them.
(24) Assuredly, this is the declaration
Of the Sovereign, the LORD of Hosts,
The Mighty One of Israel:
“Ah, I will get satisfaction from My foes;
I will wreak vengeance on My enemies! (25) I will turn My hand against you,
And smelt out your dross as with lye,-h
And remove all your slag: (26) I will restore your magistrates as of old,
And your counselors as of yore.
After that you shall be called
City of Righteousness, Faithful City.”
(27) Zion shall be saved in the judgment;
Her repentant ones, in the retribution. (28) But rebels and sinners shall all be crushed,
And those who forsake the LORD shall perish.
(29) Truly, you shall be shamed
Because of the terebinths you desired,
And you shall be confounded
Because of the gardens you coveted. (30) For you shall be like a terebinth
Wilted of leaf,
And like a garden
That has no water, (31) Stored wealth-l shall become as tow,
And he who amassed it a spark;
And the two shall burn together,
With none to quench.

(ד) כִּי־כֹ֣ה ׀ אָמַ֣ר ה' לַסָּֽרִיסִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֤ר יִשְׁמְרוּ֙ אֶת־שַׁבְּתוֹתַ֔י וּבָחֲר֖וּ בַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר חָפָ֑צְתִּי וּמַחֲזִיקִ֖ים בִּבְרִיתִֽי׃ (ה) וְנָתַתִּ֨י לָהֶ֜ם בְּבֵיתִ֤י וּבְחֽוֹמֹתַי֙ יָ֣ד וָשֵׁ֔ם ט֖וֹב מִבָּנִ֣ים וּמִבָּנ֑וֹת שֵׁ֤ם עוֹלָם֙ אֶתֶּן־ל֔וֹ אֲשֶׁ֖ר לֹ֥א יִכָּרֵֽת׃ {ס} (ו) וּבְנֵ֣י הַנֵּכָ֗ר הַנִּלְוִ֤ים עַל־ה' לְשָׁ֣רְת֔וֹ וּֽלְאַהֲבָה֙ אֶת־שֵׁ֣ם ה' לִֽהְי֥וֹת ל֖וֹ לַעֲבָדִ֑ים כׇּל־שֹׁמֵ֤ר שַׁבָּת֙ מֵֽחַלְּל֔וֹ וּמַחֲזִיקִ֖ים בִּבְרִיתִֽי׃ (ז) וַהֲבִיאוֹתִ֞ים אֶל־הַ֣ר קׇדְשִׁ֗י וְשִׂמַּחְתִּים֙ בְּבֵ֣ית תְּפִלָּתִ֔י עוֹלֹתֵיהֶ֧ם וְזִבְחֵיהֶ֛ם לְרָצ֖וֹן עַֽל־מִזְבְּחִ֑י כִּ֣י בֵיתִ֔י בֵּית־תְּפִלָּ֥ה יִקָּרֵ֖א לְכׇל־הָעַמִּֽים׃ (ח) נְאֻם֙ אדוני ה' מְקַבֵּ֖ץ נִדְחֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל ע֛וֹד אֲקַבֵּ֥ץ עָלָ֖יו לְנִקְבָּצָֽיו׃
(1) Thus said the LORD:
Observe what is right and do what is just;
For soon My salvation shall come,
And my deliverance be revealed.
(2) Happy is the man who does this,
The man who holds fast to it:
Who keeps the sabbath and does not profane it,
And stays his hand from doing any evil.
(3) Let not the foreigner say,
Who has attached himself to the LORD,
“The LORD will keep me apart from His people”;
And let not the eunuch say,
“I am a withered tree.” (4) For thus said the LORD:
“As for the eunuchs who keep My sabbaths,
Who have chosen what I desire
And hold fast to My covenant— (5) I will give them, in My House
And within My walls,
A monument and a name
Better than sons or daughters.
I will give them an everlasting name
Which shall not perish. (6) As for the foreigners
Who attach themselves to the LORD,
To minister to Him,
And to love the name of the LORD,
To be His servants—
All who keep the sabbath and do not profane it,
And who hold fast to My covenant— (7) I will bring them to My sacred mount
And let them rejoice in My house of prayer.
Their burnt offerings and sacrifices
Shall be welcome on My altar;
For My House shall be called
A house of prayer for all peoples.” (8) Thus declares the Lord GOD,
Who gathers the dispersed of Israel:
“I will gather still more to those already gathered.”
(9) All you wild beasts, come and devour,
All you beasts of the forest! (10) The watchmen are blind, all of them,
They perceive nothing.
They are all dumb dogs
That cannot bark;
They lie sprawling,
They love to drowse. (11) Moreover, the dogs are greedy;
They never know satiety.
As for the shepherds, they know not
What it is to give heed.-c
Everyone has turned his own way,
Every last one seeks his own advantage. (12) “Come, I’ll get some wine;
Let us swill liquor.
And tomorrow will be just the same,
Or even much grander!”

(יב) כֹּה־אָמַר֮ ה' צְבָאוֹת֒ ע֞וֹד יִהְיֶ֣ה ׀ בַּמָּק֣וֹם הַזֶּ֗ה הֶחָרֵ֛ב מֵאֵין־אָדָ֥ם וְעַד־בְּהֵמָ֖ה וּבְכׇל־עָרָ֑יו נְוֵ֣ה רֹעִ֔ים מַרְבִּצִ֖ים צֹֽאן׃ (יג) בְּעָרֵ֨י הָהָ֜ר בְּעָרֵ֤י הַשְּׁפֵלָה֙ וּבְעָרֵ֣י הַנֶּ֔גֶב וּבְאֶ֧רֶץ בִּנְיָמִ֛ן וּבִסְבִיבֵ֥י יְרוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִם וּבְעָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֑ה עֹ֣ד תַּעֲבֹ֧רְנָה הַצֹּ֛אן עַל־יְדֵ֥י מוֹנֶ֖ה אָמַ֥ר ה'׃ {ס} (יד) הִנֵּ֛ה יָמִ֥ים בָּאִ֖ים נְאֻם־ה' וַהֲקִֽמֹתִי֙ אֶת־הַדָּבָ֣ר הַטּ֔וֹב אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבַּ֛רְתִּי אֶל־בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וְעַל־בֵּ֥ית יְהוּדָֽה׃ (טו) בַּיָּמִ֤ים הָהֵם֙ וּבָעֵ֣ת הַהִ֔יא אַצְמִ֥יחַ לְדָוִ֖ד צֶ֣מַח צְדָקָ֑ה וְעָשָׂ֛ה מִשְׁפָּ֥ט וּצְדָקָ֖ה בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ (טז) בַּיָּמִ֤ים הָהֵם֙ תִּוָּשַׁ֣ע יְהוּדָ֔ה וִירוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִם תִּשְׁכּ֣וֹן לָבֶ֑טַח וְזֶ֥ה אֲשֶׁר־יִקְרָא־לָ֖הּ ה' ׀ צִדְקֵֽנוּ׃ {ס}
(1) The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah a second time, while he was still confined in the prison compound, as follows:
(2) Thus said the LORD who is planning it,
The LORD who is shaping it to bring it about,
Whose name is LORD: (3) Call to Me, and I will answer you,
And I will tell you wondrous things,
Secrets you have not known.
(4) For thus said the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city and the palaces of the kings of Judah that were torn down for [defense] against the siegemounds and against the sword, (5) and were filled by those who went to fight the Chaldeans,-a—with the corpses of the men whom I struck down in My anger and rage, hiding My face from this city because of all their wickedness: (6) I am going to bring her relief and healing. I will heal them and reveal to them abundance of true favor. (7) And I will restore the fortunes of Judah and Israel, and I will rebuild them as of old. (8) And I will purge them of all the sins which they committed against Me, and I will pardon all the sins which they committed against Me, by which they rebelled against Me. (9) And she shall gain through Me renown, joy, fame, and glory above all the nations on earth, when they hear of all the good fortune I provide for them. They will thrill and quiver because of all the good fortune and all the prosperity that I provide for her. (10) Thus said the LORD: Again there shall be heard in this place, which you say is ruined, without man or beast—in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem that are desolate, without man, without inhabitants, without beast— (11) the sound of mirth and gladness, the voice of bridegroom and bride, the voice of those who cry, “Give thanks to the LORD of Hosts, for the LORD is good, for His kindness is everlasting!” as they bring thanksgiving offerings to the House of the LORD. For I will restore the fortunes of the land as of old—said the LORD. (12) Thus said the LORD of Hosts: In this ruined place, without man and beast, and in all its towns, there shall again be a pasture for shepherds, where they can rest their flocks. (13) In the towns of the hill country, in the towns of the Shephelah, and in the towns of the Negeb, in the land of Benjamin and in the environs of Jerusalem and in the towns of Judah, sheep shall pass again under the hands of one who counts them—said the LORD. (14) See, days are coming—declares the LORD—when I will fulfill the promise that I made concerning the House of Israel and the House of Judah. (15) In those days and at that time, I will raise up a true branch of David’s line, and he shall do what is just and right in the land. (16) In those days Judah shall be delivered and Jerusalem shall dwell secure. And this is what she shall be called: “The LORD is our Vindicator.” (17) For thus said the LORD: There shall never be an end to men of David’s line who sit upon the throne of the House of Israel. (18) Nor shall there ever be an end to the line of the levitical priests before Me, of those who present burnt offerings and turn the meal offering to smoke and perform sacrifices.
(19) The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah: (20) Thus said the LORD: If you could break My covenant with the day and My covenant with the night, so that day and night should not come at their proper time, (21) only then could My covenant with My servant David be broken—so that he would not have a descendant reigning upon his throne—or with My ministrants, the levitical priests. (22) Like the host of heaven which cannot be counted, and the sand of the sea which cannot be measured, so will I multiply the offspring of My servant David, and of the Levites who minister to Me.
(23) The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah: (24) You see what this people said: “The two families which the LORD chose have now been rejected by Him.” Thus they despise My people, and regard them as no longer a nation.-a (25) Thus said the LORD: As surely as I have established My covenant with day and night—the laws of heaven and earth— (26) so I will never reject the offspring of Jacob and My servant David; I will never fail to take from his offspring rulers for the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Indeed, I will restore their fortunes and take them back in love.
(2) Thus said the LORD who is planning it,

(א) וַיְהִ֛י דְּבַר־ה' צְבָא֖וֹת לֵאמֹֽר׃ (ב) כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ ה' צְבָא֔וֹת קִנֵּ֥אתִי לְצִיּ֖וֹן קִנְאָ֣ה גְדוֹלָ֑ה וְחֵמָ֥ה גְדוֹלָ֖ה קִנֵּ֥אתִי לָֽהּ׃ (ג) כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר ה' שַׁ֚בְתִּי אֶל־צִיּ֔וֹן וְשָׁכַנְתִּ֖י בְּת֣וֹךְ יְרֽוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם וְנִקְרְאָ֤ה יְרוּשָׁלַ֙͏ִם֙ עִ֣יר הָֽאֱמֶ֔ת וְהַר־ה' צְבָא֖וֹת הַ֥ר הַקֹּֽדֶשׁ׃ (ד) כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ ה' צְבָא֔וֹת עֹ֤ד יֵֽשְׁבוּ֙ זְקֵנִ֣ים וּזְקֵנ֔וֹת בִּרְחֹב֖וֹת יְרוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם וְאִ֧ישׁ מִשְׁעַנְתּ֛וֹ בְּיָד֖וֹ מֵרֹ֥ב יָמִֽים׃ (ה) וּרְחֹב֤וֹת הָעִיר֙ יִמָּ֣לְא֔וּ יְלָדִ֖ים וִֽילָד֑וֹת מְשַׂחֲקִ֖ים בִּרְחֹֽבֹתֶֽיהָ׃ {פ}
(ו) כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ ה' צְבָא֔וֹת כִּ֣י יִפָּלֵ֗א בְּעֵינֵי֙ שְׁאֵרִית֙ הָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֔ה בַּיָּמִ֖ים הָהֵ֑ם גַּם־בְּעֵינַי֙ יִפָּלֵ֔א נְאֻ֖ם ה' צְבָאֽוֹת׃ {פ}
(ז) כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ ה' צְבָא֔וֹת הִנְנִ֥י מוֹשִׁ֛יעַ אֶת־עַמִּ֖י מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִזְרָ֑ח וּמֵאֶ֖רֶץ מְב֥וֹא הַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ׃ (ח) וְהֵבֵאתִ֣י אֹתָ֔ם וְשָׁכְנ֖וּ בְּת֣וֹךְ יְרוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם וְהָיוּ־לִ֣י לְעָ֗ם וַֽאֲנִי֙ אֶהְיֶ֤ה לָהֶם֙ לֵֽאלֹקִ֔ים בֶּאֱמֶ֖ת וּבִצְדָקָֽה׃ {פ}
(1) The word of the LORD of Hosts came [to me]: (2) Thus said the LORD of Hosts: I am very jealous for Zion, I am fiercely jealous for her. (3) Thus said the LORD: I have returned to Zion, and I will dwell in Jerusalem. Jerusalem will be called the City of Faithfulness, and the mount of the LORD of Hosts the Holy Mount. (4) Thus said the LORD of Hosts: There shall yet be old men and women in the squares of Jerusalem, each with staff in hand because of their great age. (5) And the squares of the city shall be crowded with boys and girls playing in the squares. (6) Thus said the LORD of Hosts: Though it will seem impossible to the remnant of this people in those days, shall it also be impossible to Me?—declares the LORD of Hosts. (7) Thus said the LORD of Hosts: I will rescue My people from the lands of the east and from the lands of the west, (8) and I will bring them home to dwell in Jerusalem. They shall be My people, and I will be their God—in truth and sincerity. (9) Thus said the LORD of Hosts: Take courage, you who now hear these words which the prophets spoke when the foundations were laid for the rebuilding of the Temple, the House of the LORD of Hosts. (10) For before that time, the earnings of men were nil, and profits from beasts were nothing. It was not safe to go about one’s business on account of enemies; and I set all men against one another. (11) But now I will not treat the remnant of this people as before—declares the LORD of Hosts— (12) but what it sows shall prosper: The vine shall produce its fruit, the ground shall produce its yield, and the skies shall provide their moisture. I will bestow all these things upon the remnant of this people. (13) And just as you were a curse among the nations, O House of Judah and House of Israel, so, when I vindicate you, you shall become a blessing.-b Have no fear; take courage! (14) For thus said the LORD of Hosts: Just as I planned to afflict you and did not relent when your fathers provoked Me to anger—said the LORD of Hosts— (15) so, at this time, I have turned and planned to do good to Jerusalem and to the House of Judah. Have no fear! (16) These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth to one another, render true and perfect justice in your gates. (17) And do not contrive evil against one another, and do not love perjury, because all those are things that I hate—declares the LORD. (18) And the word of the LORD of Hosts came to me, saying, (19) Thus said the LORD of Hosts: The fast of the fourth month, the fast of the fifth month, the fast of the seventh month, and the fast of the tenth month shall become occasions for joy and gladness, happy festivals for the House of Judah; but you must love honesty and integrity. (20) Thus said the LORD of Hosts: Peoples and the inhabitants of many cities shall yet come— (21) the inhabitants of one shall go to the other and say, “Let us go and entreat the favor of the LORD, let us seek the LORD of Hosts; I will go, too.” (22) The many peoples and the multitude of nations shall come to seek the LORD of Hosts in Jerusalem and to entreat the favor of the LORD. (23) Thus said the LORD of Hosts: In those days, ten men from nations of every tongue will take hold—they will take hold of every Jew by a corner of his cloak and say, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.”
(ט) גִּילִ֨י מְאֹ֜ד בַּת־צִיּ֗וֹן הָרִ֙יעִי֙ בַּ֣ת יְרוּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם הִנֵּ֤ה מַלְכֵּךְ֙ יָ֣בוֹא לָ֔ךְ צַדִּ֥יק וְנוֹשָׁ֖ע ה֑וּא עָנִי֙ וְרֹכֵ֣ב עַל־חֲמ֔וֹר וְעַל־עַ֖יִר בֶּן־אֲתֹנֽוֹת׃ (י) וְהִכְרַתִּי־רֶ֣כֶב מֵאֶפְרַ֗יִם וְסוּס֙ מִיר֣וּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם וְנִכְרְתָה֙ קֶ֣שֶׁת מִלְחָמָ֔ה וְדִבֶּ֥ר שָׁל֖וֹם לַגּוֹיִ֑ם וּמׇשְׁלוֹ֙ מִיָּ֣ם עַד־יָ֔ם וּמִנָּהָ֖ר עַד־אַפְסֵי־אָֽרֶץ׃
(1) A pronouncement: The word of the LORD.
He will reside in the land of Hadrach and Damascus;
For all men’s eyes will turn to the LORD—
Like all the tribes of Israel— (2) Including Hamath, which borders on it,
And Tyre and Sidon, though they are very wise. (3) Tyre has built herself a fortress;
She has amassed silver like dust,
And gold like the mud in the streets. (4) But my Lord will impoverish her;
He will defeat her forces at sea,
And she herself shall be consumed by fire.
(5) Ashkelon shall see it and be frightened,
Gaza shall tremble violently,
And Ekron, at the collapse of her hopes.
Kingship shall vanish from Gaza,
Ashkelon shall be without inhabitants, (6) And a mongrel people-b shall settle in Ashdod.
I will uproot the grandeur of Philistia.
(7) But I will clean out the blood from its mouth,
And the detestable things from between its teeth.
Its survivors, too, shall belong to our God:
They shall become like a clan in Judah,
And Ekron shall be like the Jebusites.
(8) And I will encamp in My House against armies,-c
Against any that come and go,
And no oppressor shall ever overrun them again;
For I have now taken note with My own eyes.-d
(9) Rejoice greatly, Fair Zion;
Raise a shout, Fair Jerusalem!
Lo, your king is coming to you.
He is victorious, triumphant,
Yet humble, riding on an ass,
On a donkey foaled by a she-ass. (10) He shall banish chariots from Ephraim
And horses from Jerusalem;
The warrior’s bow shall be banished.
He shall call on the nations to surrender,
And his rule shall extend from sea to sea
And from ocean to land’s end.
(11) You, for your part, have released
Your prisoners from the dry pit,
For the sake of the blood of your covenant, (12) [Saying], “Return to Bizzaron,
You prisoners of hope.”
In return [I] announce this day:
I will repay you double. (13) For I have drawn Judah taut,
And applied [My hand] to Ephraim as to a bow,
And I will arouse your sons, O Zion,
Against your sons, O Javan,
And make you like a warrior’s sword.
(14) And the LORD will manifest Himself to them,
And His arrows shall flash like lightning;
My Lord GOD shall sound the ram’s horn
And advance in a stormy tempest. (15) The LORD of Hosts will protect them:
[His] slingstones shall devour and conquer;
They shall drink, shall rage as with-n wine,
And be filled [with it] like a dashing bowl,
Like the corners of an altar. (16) The LORD their God shall prosper them
On that day;

[They shall be] like crown jewels glittering on His soil. (17) How lovely, how beautiful they shall be,
Producing young men like new grain,
Young women like new wine!
