וְלֹא־אֹתִ֥י קָרָ֖אתָ יַעֲקֹ֑ב כִּֽי־יָגַ֥עְתָּ בִּ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
But you have not worshiped Me, O Jacob,
That you should be weary of Me, O Israel.
That you should be weary of Me, O Israel.
כי יגעת בי. נלאיתם מהר בעבודתי:
for you wearied of Me You quickly wearied of My worship.
כי יגעת. כי נעשית יגע ועיף בעבודתי ובטלת את העבודה:
הַקּוֹרֵא קְרִיאַת שְׁמַע לֹא יִרְמֹז בְּעֵינָיו וְלֹא יִקְרֹץ בִּשְׂפָתָיו וְלֹא יַרְאֶה בְּאֶצְבְּעוֹתָיו כְּדֵי שֶׁלֹּא תִּהְיֶה קְרִיאָתוֹ עַרְאַי. וְאִם עָשָׂה כֵּן אַף עַל פִּי שֶׁיָּצָא יְדֵי חוֹבָתוֹ הֲרֵי זֶה מְגֻנֶּה. וְצָרִיךְ לְהַשְׁמִיעַ לְאָזְנוֹ כְּשֶׁהוּא קוֹרֵא וְאִם לֹא הִשְׁמִיעַ לְאָזְנוֹ יָצָא. וְצָרִיךְ לְדַקְדֵּק בְּאוֹתִיּוֹתָיו וְאִם לֹא דִּקְדֵּק יָצָא:
While reciting the Shema, one should not gesture with his eyes or lips, or point with his fingers, in order that his reading not be haphazard. If one were to do this, although he does fulfill his obligation, he has acted improperly.
One should recite the Shema so that his words are audible to himself. [However, even] if he does not do this, he fulfills his obligation. One must enunciate the letters clearly. [However, even] if he does not do this, he fulfills his obligation.
וכשהוא קורא קרית שמע אסור ברמיזה וקריצה ובהוריית אצבע, דאמר רב יצחק בר שמואל בר מרתא משמיה דרב הקורא את שמע ומרמז בעיניו וקורא בשפתיו ומורה באצבעותיו, עליו הכתוב אומר לא אותי קראת יעקב (ישעי' מ"ג כ"ב), (דקאמר) [משום דקא] משוי ליה עראי, ותניא ודברת בם (דברים ו' ז'), עשה אותם קבע ולא תעשה אותם עראי:
תָּנוּ רַבָּנַן, שְׁלֹשָׁה הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא בּוֹכֶה עֲלֵיהֶן בְּכׇל יוֹם: עַל שֶׁאֶפְשָׁר לַעֲסוֹק בַּתּוֹרָה וְאֵינוֹ עוֹסֵק, וְעַל שֶׁאִי אֶפְשָׁר לַעֲסוֹק בְּתוֹרָה וְעוֹסֵק, וְעַל פַּרְנָס הַמִּתְגָּאֶה עַל הַצִּבּוּר.
The Sages taught that there are three types of people for whom the Holy One, Blessed be He, cries every day: For one who is able to engage in Torah study and does not engage in it; and for one who is unable to engage in Torah study and nevertheless he endeavors and engages in it; and for a leader who lords over the community.
