(2) Command the Israelite people to bring you clear oil of beaten olives for lighting, for kindling lamps regularly. (3) Aaron shall set them up in the Tent of Meeting outside the curtain of the Pact [to burn] from evening to morning before יהוה regularly; it is a law for all time throughout the ages. (4) He shall set up the lamps on the pure lampstand before יהוה [to burn] regularly. (5) You shall take choice flour and bake of it twelve loaves, two-tenths of a measure for each loaf. (6) Place them on the pure table before יהוה in two rows, six to a row.

(2) Speak to Aaron and say to him, “When you mount the lamps, let the seven lamps give light at the front of the lampstand.” (3) Aaron did so; he mounted the lamps at the front of the lampstand, as יהוה had commanded Moses.— (4) Now this is how the lampstand was made: it was hammered work of gold, hammered from base to petal. According to the pattern that יהוה had shown Moses, so was the lampstand made.

(48) And Solomon made all the furnishings that were in the House of the LORD: the altar, of gold; the table for the bread of display, of gold; (49) the lampstands—five on the right side and five on the left—in front of the Shrine, of solid gold; and the petals, lamps, and tongs, of gold;
(מט) וישימו את הקטורת על המזבח, ועל המנורה העלו את נרותיה להאיר במקדש.
(49) And upon the altar they burned incense, and the lamps that were upon the candlestick they lighted, that they might give light in the temple.

(23) For the commandment is a lamp, The teaching is a light, And the way to life is the rebuke that disciplines.
Yedaiah ben Avraham Bedersi qu. by Nehama Leibowitz
The Torah and Humanity combined comprise the Lamp of God on earth. The Torah is the flame issuing from the flash of the Eternal that dwells in the heavens. Humanity (comprising body and soul) is the torch that draws light from it. The back is the twining wick and the pure olive oil, the soul. Through their intertwining fusion (torch and flame) the whole house becomes filled with light.
