Commercially made Matzot

Shulchan Aruch (Orach Chaim 453:4) states:

It is good for one to make mitzvah matzah for the Seder (ie. Achilat Matzah, Korech, Afikoman) from wheat which was closely watched over from the time of its reaping i.e matzah shmura.

During the rest of the holiday, one does not need to eat matzah shmurah. We, however wait until after the holiday then eat matzah ashira.

Another is issue is the propriety of eating machine-made matzah. Some rabbis, mainly Ashkenazic, were concerned that during the grinding of the wheat kernels, moisture would be pressed out and would lead to inadvertent leavening of the dough. We find that Chacham Raphael in (Sefer Kol Tehina-Kol Tehina) as well as several Algerian chachamim forbade eating machine-made matzah on pesach for this reason.

In our modern day, the machines we use produce matzah in a much more refined way than what existed previously and this concern no longer exists.

Therefore, the issue in our modern day is that the matzah one may consume during pesach is that were not made with proper intention in turn they are no longer mitzvah matzah.

Chacham ben Zion Abba Shaul (Or LeZion, vol. 3,) says that the mitzvah matzah of the Seder should be hand-made. Also he says that the matzah which has kosher certification should be used since it is more likely that it was produced for the sake of the mitzvah of matzah.

Conclusion: Machine-made matzah may be used for the actual meal and for the rest of Pesach so long as they have a reliable Hechsher.
