The Lord God made garments of leather for the man and for his wife and clothed them.
The Lord God made garments of leather for the man and for his wife and clothed them. (Genesis 3:21) In the Torah of Rabbi Meir they found written "garments of light."
Make yourself an ark of gopher wood; make it an ark with compartments, and cover it inside and out with pitch.
Make yourself an ark.
There are numerous ways by which God could have saved Noah; why, then, did he burden him with this construction of the Ark? So that the men of the generation of the Flood might see him employed on it for 120 years and might ask him, “What do you need this for”? and so that he might answer them, “The Holy One, blessed be He, is about to bring a flood upon the world” — perhaps they might repent (Sanhedrin 108b).
And I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
And you shall be a blessing.
And curse the one who curses you;
And all the families of the earth
Shall bless themselves by you.”
And Avraham drew near, and said, Wilt Thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?
Perhaps there are fifty righteous within the city: wilt Thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?
Far be it from Thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, far be it from Thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?
And God answered, “If I find in Sedom fifty righteous people within the city, I will forgive the whole place for their sake.”
If I find in Sedom. Now, when I examine them with the angels that I sent, if I find 50 righteous people who will protest against the evil people in Sedom, the leading city of the valley, (compare Ezekiel 15,46)
The meaning of "within the city" is that they revere God in public, and thus, "Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, And see now, and know, And seek in the broad places thereof, If ye can find a man, If there be any that doeth justly, and seeketh truth; And I will pardon her". (Jeremiah 5:1)
