בְּעֵת הַמַּחֲלֹקֶת עַל הַבַּעַל שֵׁם-טוֹב הָיְתָה אִשָּׁה אַחַת שֶׁתָּפְסָה אֶבֶן כְּדֵי לְזָרְקָהּ עַל הַבַּעַל שֵׁם-טוֹב, וּכְשֶׁלא יָכְלָה לַהֲרִימָהּ מֵחֲמַת כֹּבֶד הָאֶבֶן, עָנְתָה וְאָמְרָה: “רִבּוֹנוֹ שֶׁל עוֹלָם, יְהִי רָצוֹן מִלְּפָנֶיךָ שֶׁיִּהְיֶה כְּאִלּוּ זְרַקְתִּיו עָלָיו”. אָמַר הַבַּעַל שֵׁם-טוֹב: “בָּעוֹלָם הַבָּא יֵשׁ שַׁעֲשׁוּעִים גְּדוֹלִים מִמִּדַּת הָאֱמֶת שֶׁלָּהּ”.
During the period controversy surrounded the Ba’al Shem Tov, a woman grabbed a stone to throw at him. When she discovered the stone was too heavy for her to pick up, she responded by saying: “Master of the Universe, may it be your will that it be as if I had thrown this stone at him”. And the Ba’al Shem Tov said: “The Heavens take great pleasure in/are very amused by her sincerity”.
