Reading from Psalms
[Hebrew chants + English]
A song for ascents.
I turn my eyes to the mountains;
from where will my help come?
עֶ֭זְרִי מֵעִ֣ם יְהֹוָ֑ה עֹ֝שֵׂ֗ה שָׁמַ֥יִם וָאָֽרֶץ׃
[Read together]
My help comes from the LORD,
maker of heaven and earth.
your guardian will not slumber;
neither slumbers nor sleeps!
the LORD is your protection
at your right hand.
nor the moon by night.
He will guard your life.
now and forever.
Readings from Ecclesiastes
[Scott's favorite book of the Tanakh; Hebrew + English responsively]
The words of Koheleth, son of David, king in Jerusalem.
[Community reads 3:2-3:8, 9:10 in English after Rabbi reads the Hebrew for each individual line]
A time to be born, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
[Read as a community]
Whatever it is in your power to do, do with all your might. For there is no action, no reasoning, no learning, no wisdom in Sheol, where you are going.
