(2) Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, “I would like to go to the fields and glean among the ears of grain, behind someone who may offer me חן.” “Yes, daughter, go,” she replied;
(ט) אֵ֚לֶּה תּוֹלְדֹ֣ת נֹ֔חַ נֹ֗חַ אִ֥ישׁ צַדִּ֛יק תָּמִ֥ים הָיָ֖ה בְּדֹֽרֹתָ֑יו אֶת־הָֽאֱלֹהִ֖ים הִֽתְהַלֶּךְ־נֹֽחַ׃
(8) But Noah found חן with יהוה. (9) This is the line of Noah.—Noah was a righteous man; he was blameless in his age; Noah walked with God.—
(4) Joseph became חן in his eyes. He made him his personal attendant and put him in charge of his household, placing in his hands all that he owned.
Why have you dealt-ill with your servant?
Why have I not found favor in your eyes,
[that you] have placed the burden of this entire people on me?
My lords,
pray if I have found favor in your eyes,
pray do not pass by your servant!
if I have, pray, found favor in your eyes,
pray let me know your ways,
that I may [truly] know you,
in order that I may find favor in your eyes:
see,
indeed your people is your people!
(10) She prostrated herself with her face to the ground, and said to him, “Why have I found חן in your eyes that you have taken note of me when I am a foreigner?” (11) Boaz said in reply, “I have been told of all that you did for your mother-in-law after the death of your husband, how you left your father and mother and the land of your birth and came to a people you had not known before. (12) May YHWH reward your deeds. May you have a full recompense from YHWH, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have sought refuge!” (13) She answered, “I found found חן in your eyes, my lord, to comfort me and to speak gently to your maidservant—though I am not so much as one of your maidservants.”
