(16) But Ruth replied, “Do not urge me to leave you, to turn back and not follow you. For wherever you go, I will go; wherever you stay, I will stay; your people shall be my people, and your God my God. (17) Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. This and more may the LORD do to me-b if anything but death parts me from you.” (18) When [Naomi] saw how determined she was to go with her, she ceased to argue with her; (19) and the two went on until they reached Bethlehem.

When faced with struggles, Naomi urges her daughter-in-law Ruth to turn back to her own land, her own people and her own gods.

The root of the word Torah is the same as for the word morah, teacher. Torah can mean all sorts of learning that comes from many sources. One of the basic values the Torah teaches is that everyone is created in God's image and therefore everyone is important and of infinite value. Even unconventional or new sources of wisdom can help us understand that part of our tradition.
