Money Is The Key to Happiness (Sort of...)

(7) If there will be among you a needy person, from one of your brothers in one of your cities, in your land the Lord, your God, is giving you, you shall not harden your heart, and you shall not close your hand from your needy brother.(8) Rather, you shall open your hand to him, and you shall lend him sufficient for his needs, which he is lacking. (9) Beware, lest there be in your heart an unfaithful thought, saying, "The seventh year, the year of release has approached," and you will begrudge your needy brother and not give him, and he will cry out to the Lord against you, and it will be a sin to you.(10) You shall surely give him, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him; for because of this thing the Lord, your God, will bless you in all your work and in all your endeavors.(11) For there will never cease to be needy within the land. Therefore, I command you, saying, you shall surely open your hand to your brother, to your poor one, and to your needy one in your land.

(1) One is obligated to be more cautious with the mitzvah of charity than all positive mitzvos... And the Jewish people will not be redeemed without [the mitzvah of] charity.

Charity is tantamount to all Mitzvos

Whoever gives charity with a downtrodden face and a negative attitude, even if he gives a thousand golden dinars, he looses his merit. Rather he should gives it with a positive countenance and with joy.

(7) Rabbi Elazar of Bartosa would say: Give Him what is His, for you, and whatever is yours, are His. As David says: "For everything comes from You, and from Your own hand we give to You" (I Chronicles 29:14)...

(11) Beware that you do not forget the Hashem, your G-d, by not keeping His commandments, His ordinances, and His statutes, which I command you this day, (12) Because maybe you will eat and be sated, and build good houses and dwell in them, (13) and your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and gold increase, and all that you have increases, (14) and your heart grows haughty, and you forget Hashem, your G-d, Who has brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, (15) Who led you through that great and awesome desert, [in which were] snakes, vipers and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought water for you out of solid rock, (16) Who fed you with manna in the desert, which your forefathers did not know, in order to afflict you and in order to test you, to benefit you in your end, (17) And you will say to yourself, "My strength and the might of my hand that has accumulated this wealth for me."
