Remarks:

  • Parentheses surround musical syllables that will never exist in these patterns.
  • Gershayim is placed above the first letter of the accented syllable (always milra), preceding the vowel, if any.
  • T'lisha-g'dola is frequently followed by an azla phrase or gershayim phrase.
  • T'lisha-g'dola is placed above or to the right of the first letter of the word, regardless of accent. Some texts place an additional t'lisha-g'dolah on the accented syllable, if it is not the first (see paper for example). In a set of hyphenated words, t'lisha-g'dola is placed above the first letter of the final word (see paper for example).
  • T'lisha-g'dola may be preceded by more than one munach, sounded alike.
