Prayer 101: Transformations
At the dawn I seek you,
Refuge, rock sublime;
Set my prayer before you in the morning,
And my prayer at eventime.
I before your greatness
Stand and am afraid:
All my secret thoughts your eye beholds
Deep within my heart are laid.
And withal what is it
Heart and tongue can do?
What is this my strength, and what is even
This the spirit in me too?
But indeed our singing
May seem good to ye;
So I praise thee, singing, while there dwelleth
Yet the breath of God in me.
Ideally prayer leads to TRANSFORMATION - We think, feel, act differently as a result off our efforts...
Our prayers break down into sections:
1. The body, self-awareness (Wake up prayers)
2. The heart, the feeling part of ourselves, emotion (Psukey D'Zimrah, songs/psalms)
3. The mind/intellect (Shema)
4. Fusion of all these with the neshama/soul - communion with God - Transcending the world of things/space, reaching beyond
5. Returning CHANGED
Let's do some brainstorming, and break down each part with what we think could be potential areas for transformation:
1. The body, self-awareness (Wake up prayers) --
2. The heart, the feeling part of ourselves, emotion (Psukey D'Zimrah, songs/psalms) --
3. The mind/intellect (Shema) --
4. Fusion of all these with the neshama/soul - communion with God - Transcending the world of things/space, reaching beyond --
