וְאַחְאָב בֶּן־עָמְרִי מָלַךְ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵל בִּשְׁנַת שְׁלֹשִׁים וּשְׁמֹנֶה שָׁנָה לְאָסָא מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה וַיִּמְלֹךְ אַחְאָב בֶּן־עָמְרִי עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּשֹׁמְרוֹן עֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁתַּיִם שָׁנָה׃ וַיַּעַשׂ אַחְאָב בֶּן־עָמְרִי הָרַע בְּעֵינֵי ה' מִכֹּל אֲשֶׁר לְפָנָיו׃ וַיְהִי הֲנָקֵל לֶכְתּוֹ בְּחַטֹּאות יָרָבְעָם בֶּן־נְבָט וַיִּקַּח אִשָּׁה אֶת־אִיזֶבֶל בַּת־אֶתְבַּעַל מֶלֶךְ צִידֹנִים וַיֵּלֶךְ וַיַּעֲבֹד אֶת־הַבַּעַל וַיִּשְׁתַּחוּ לוֹ׃ וַיָּקֶם מִזְבֵּחַ לַבָּעַל בֵּית הַבַּעַל אֲשֶׁר בָּנָה בְּשֹׁמְרוֹן׃ וַיַּעַשׂ אַחְאָב אֶת־הָאֲשֵׁרָה וַיּוֹסֶף אַחְאָב לַעֲשׂוֹת לְהַכְעִיס אֶת־ה' אֱלֹ-י יִשְׂרָאֵל מִכֹּל מַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר הָיוּ לְפָנָיו׃ ... וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלִיָּהוּ הַתִּשְׁבִּי מִתֹּשָׁבֵי גִלְעָד אֶל־אַחְאָב חַי־ה' אֱלֹ-י יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר עָמַדְתִּי לְפָנָיו אִם־יִהְיֶה הַשָּׁנִים הָאֵלֶּה טַל וּמָטָר כִּי אִם־לְפִי דְבָרִי׃ וַיְהִי דְבַר־יְהוָה אֵלָיו לֵאמֹר׃ לֵךְ מִזֶּה וּפָנִיתָ לְּךָ קֵדְמָה וְנִסְתַּרְתָּ בְּנַחַל כְּרִית אֲשֶׁר עַל־פְּנֵי הַיַּרְדֵּן׃
Achov ben Omri reigned over Yisroel in the thirty eighth year [of the reign] of Asa, king of Yehudah. Achov ben Omri reigned over Yisroel in Shomron for twenty two years. And Achov ben Omri did that which was evil in the eyes of Hashem, more than all those before him. And it was insignificant for him [merely] to follow in the sin[ful] way of Yerovom be Nevat, so he took for a wife Ezevel, the daughter of Esbaal, the king of the Tzidonim, and he went and worshipped the [idol] Baal, and he bowed down to it.He erected an altar to Baal, in the temple of Baal that he built in Shomron. And Achov [also] made an Asheirah, and Achov continued to do more to anger Adonoy, God, of Yisroel, than all the kings of Yisroel that were before him....Eliyahu haTisbli of the inhabitants of Gilad said to Achov, “As Hashem, G-d of Yisroel lives, before whom I serve, there will be no dew or rain these years except by my word.” There was a word of Hashem to him, saying, “Go from here and turn eastward, and hide in the valley of Kris, which faces the Yardein."
What does Eliyahu teach us about speaking out about wrongdoing?
וַיַּגֵּד לְאַבְרָם הָעִבְרִי, רַבִּי יְהוּדָה וְרַבִּי נְחֶמְיָה וְרַבָּנָן, רַבִּי יְהוּדָה אוֹמֵר כָּל הָעוֹלָם כֻּלּוֹ מֵעֵבֶר אֶחָד וְהוּא מֵעֵבֶר אֶחָד.
And he told it to Avrom HaIvri: Rebbi Yehuda said that the whole world was on one side and he (Avrom) was on the other.
