In the twentieth year of Pekah, Tiglat-Pileser of Assyria came and conquered Ijun and Dan and took the golden calf which was in Dan...In Ahaz's twelth year, the spirit of God awakened King Pul of Assyria and he took the golden calf in Beth El in fulfillment of the verse (Hosea 10:6) "This too [the calf] will be carted away to Assyria as tribute for the king."
Once Hosea ben Elah saw that the golden calves had been exiled, he removed the guards that Yeravam son of Nevat had positioned on the highways to restrict pilgrimage to Jerusalem, and this is why for all other northern kings it is written, "He walked in the path of Yeravam son of Nevat", and concerning Hosea it says, "He was not like the kings of Israel who were before him."
Anyone among the Israelites, or among the strangers residing in Israel, who gives any of his offspring to Molech, shall be put to death; the people of the land shall pelt him with stones. (3) And I will set My face against that man and will cut him off from among his people, because he gave of his offspring to Molech and so defiled My sanctuary and profaned My holy name. (4) And if the people of the land should shut their eyes to that man when he gives of his offspring to Molech, and should not put him to death, (5) I Myself will set My face against that man and his kin, and will cut off from among their people both him and all who follow him in going astray after Molech. (6) And if any person turns to ghosts and familiar spirits and goes astray after them, I will set My face against that person and cut him off from among his people.

Eternal love I conceived for you then;
Therefore I continue My grace to you. (4) I will build you firmly again,
O Maiden Israel!
Again you shall take up your timbrels
And go forth to the rhythm of the dancers. (5) Again you shall plant vineyards
On the hills of Samaria;
Men shall plant and live to enjoy them. (6) For the day is coming when watchmen
Shall proclaim on the heights of Ephraim:
Come, let us go up to Zion,
To the LORD our God!
(7) For thus said the LORD:
Cry out in joy for Jacob,
Shout at the crossroads of the nations!
Sing aloud in praise, and say:
Save, O LORD, Your people,-c
The remnant of Israel. (8) I will bring them in from the northland,
Gather them from the ends of the earth—
The blind and the lame among them,
Those with child and those in labor—
In a vast throng they shall return here. (9) They shall come with weeping,
And with compassion will I guide them.
I will lead them to streams of water,
By a level road where they will not stumble.
For I am ever a Father to Israel,
Ephraim is My first-born.

(1) Hezekiah sent word to all Israel and Judah; he also wrote letters to Ephraim and Manasseh to come to the House of the LORD in Jerusalem to keep the Passover for the LORD God of Israel...(5) to issue a decree and proclaim throughout all Israel from Beer-sheba to Dan that they come and keep the Passover for the LORD God of Israel in Jerusalem—not often did they act in accord with what was written...(10) As the couriers passed from town to town in the land of Ephraim and Manasseh till they reached Zebulun, they were laughed at and mocked. (11) Some of the people of Asher and Manasseh and Zebulun, however, were contrite, and came to Jerusalem...(25) All the congregation of Judah and the priests and the Levites and all the congregation that came from Israel, and the resident aliens who came from the land of Israel and who lived in Judah, rejoiced. (26) There was great rejoicing in Jerusalem, for since the time of King Solomon son of David of Israel nothing like it had happened in Jerusalem.
