(ד) ה֣וֹי ׀ גּ֣וֹי חֹטֵ֗א עַ֚ם כֶּ֣בֶד עָוֺ֔ן זֶ֣רַע מְרֵעִ֔ים בָּנִ֖ים מַשְׁחִיתִ֑ים עָזְב֣וּ אֶת־ה' נִֽאֲצ֛וּ אֶת־קְד֥וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל נָזֹ֥רוּ אָחֽוֹר׃
(ה) עַ֣ל מֶ֥ה תֻכּ֛וּ ע֖וֹד תּוֹסִ֣יפוּ סָרָ֑ה כׇּל־רֹ֣אשׁ לׇֽחֳלִ֔י וְכׇל־לֵבָ֖ב דַּוָּֽי׃
(ו) מִכַּף־רֶ֤גֶל וְעַד־רֹאשׁ֙ אֵֽין־בּ֣וֹ מְתֹ֔ם פֶּ֥צַע וְחַבּוּרָ֖ה וּמַכָּ֣ה טְרִיָּ֑ה לֹא־זֹ֙רוּ֙ וְלֹ֣א חֻבָּ֔שׁוּ וְלֹ֥א רֻכְּכָ֖ה בַּשָּֽׁמֶן׃
(4) Woe, sinful nation!
People who are heavy with sin
Children who do bad
Corrupt children!
They left Hashem
They mocked the Holy One of Israel (Hashem)
They went backward.
(5) What's the point of punishing you more?
You continue to sin
Every head is ailing,
And every heart is sick.
(6) From head to foot
No spot is without a blemish
All cuts and bruises (black and blue marks)
And festering sores—
Not sprinkled with powder,(baby powder to dry out wound) not bandaged,
Not softened with oil.
i.e. - no one tried to cure these problems ( a Mashal for spiritual sicknesses)
Pasuk 5:
They have things that are a problem and they are not fixing their problem Yishayuhu saying to them guys you have a problem fix it
(ex: go to someone house and their being disrespetful and you wonder why they just work on it)
Pasuk 6:
Physical blemishes are a mashul for spiritual things that are wrong with them and the cures for the spiritual illness
(ex: spirtiual cure -> davening, teshuva,chessed
(א) הוי. הנביא מתאנח וקובל על ישראל שהיו מאז גוי קדוש ונהפכו להיות גוי חוטא: (ב) עם כבד עון. מאז היו עם קדוש ונהפכו להיות עם כבד עון: (ג) זרע מרעים. מאז היו זרע בירך ה׳ ונהפכו להיות זרע מרעים: (ד) בנים משחיתים. מאז היו בני אל חי ונהפכו להיות בנים המשחיתים את דרכם: (ה) נזרו אחור. פרשו מהם ללכת לאחור כאדם הממאן לשמוע דברי המדבר אליו:
They used to be called a holy nation and now they are called a sinful nation
They used to be called children of the living God now they are called corrupt children
