(ו) ואלו ירקות שאדם יוצא בהן ידי חובתו בפסח: בחזרת ובעלשין ובתמכא ובחרחבינא ובמרור...

(6) These are the vegetables with which a person fulfills his obligation to eat bitter herbs on Pesach: with chazeret, and with wild endive, and with tamcha, and with ‏field eryngo, and with bitter coriander....

....And because in the lands of Germany and Poland which are cold, lettuce in not found at Pesach time, they were not used to taking it for the required mitzvah of maror, or because they were not experts in the nature of explaining the names of the vegetables like the people of the lands close to Israel and Bavel, they did not know what it was and they took chrein which is tamcha according to some of the rabbis, and this had led to destruction....

(ד) מקום שנהגו לאכול צלי בלילי פסחים - אוכלין. מקום שנהגו שלא לאכול - אין אוכלין...

(4) [In] a place where [the inhabitants] were accustomed to eat roasted meat on Pesach night, we may eat [it]; [in] a place where [the inhabitants] were accustomed not to eat [it], we may not eat [it]....

(יא) אמר רבי יוסי תודוס איש רומי הנהיג [את בני רומי] ליקח טלאים בלילי פסחים [ועושין אותן] מקולסין אמרו לו אף הוא קרוב להאכיל קדשים בחוץ מפני שקורין אותן פסחים.

Rabbi Yossi said: Todos a man of Rome accustomed the people of Rome to take lambs on the eves of Passover and they made them mekulasim. They said to him: He was very close to feeding them sacrifices outside the Temple, because the people called them "Pascal lambs."
