(ב) כאשר שפרה לנו העת, זה לא כביר, אחרי הפרדנו שנים רבות, להשתעשע יחד שעה קלה, בעברך דרך עיר מושבי, לא פללת אז, נפתלי יקירי, כי נושא הענין, שעליו הטפנו מלים, יקח לבבי לארך ימים, וכי יהיה עוד כל מעיני בו גם עתה. — אתה, ידידי, מצאתנו, כי נהפכתי לאיש אחר בהשקפותי על הדת, וביותר בתהלוכותי והנהגתי בדרך אמונה, עד כי לא יכולת לשום מעצור לרוחך, השקט והדגול במדת הסבלנות, והשאלות: "מאימתי"?
