(2) God spoke to Moses and said to him, “I am Hashem!
I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as El Shaddai, but I did not make Myself known to them by My name
4 I also established My covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land in which they lived as sojourners.... (8) I will bring you into the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give it to you for a possession,
I am Hashem.”

(5) Hashem came down in a cloud; He stood with him there, and proclaimed the name "Hashem".
(6) Hashem passed before him and proclaimed:
“Hashem! Hashem! A God compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in kindness and faithfulness, (7) extending kindness to the thousandth generation, forgiving iniquity, transgression, and sin; yet He does not remit all punishment, but visits the iniquity of parents upon children and children’s children, upon the third and fourth generations.”
(8) Moses hastened to bow low to the ground in homage, (9) and said, “If I have gained Your favor, O Lord, pray, let the Lord go in our midst, even though this is a stiff-necked people. Pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for Your own!”
(10) He said: I hereby make a covenant. Before all your people I will work such wonders as have not been wrought on all the earth or in any nation; and all the people who are with you shall see how awesome are Hashem’s deeds which I will perform for you.

God spoke all these words, saying:
I Hashem am your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, the house of bondage:
(3) You shall have no other gods besides Me. (4) You shall not make for yourself a sculptured image, or any likeness of what is in the heavens above, or on the earth below, or in the waters under the earth. (5) You shall not bow down to them or serve them.
For I Hashem your God am an impassioned God, visiting the guilt of the parents upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generations of those who reject Me, (6) but showing kindness to the thousandth generation of those who love Me and keep My commandments.

(5) I have now heard the moaning of the Israelites because the Egyptians are holding them in bondage, and I have remembered My covenant. (6) Say, therefore, to the Israelite people: I am the LORD. I will free you from the labors of the Egyptians and deliver you from their bondage. I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and through extraordinary chastisements. (7) And I will take you to be My people, and I will be your God.
And you shall know that I Hashem am your God who freed you from the labors of the Egyptians.
