עֹלָ֣ה ה֗וּא אִשֵּׁ֛ה רֵ֥יחַ נִיחֹ֖חַ לַיהוָֽה׃ (ס)
It is a burnt offering, an offering by fire, of pleasing odor to the LORD.
It is a sweet savour to God....with regard to all the different sacrifices teaches us that it does not make a difference if one does some things and another does other things, provided that it is for the sake of heaven. Two Hasidim, one from Kotz and one from Chernobyl met and began discussing their respective different ritual practices. The one from Chernobyl said; We stress three things; we stay awake all Friday night, on Friday we give as much tzedakah as we can and on Shabbat we recite the entire book of Psalms. The Kotz hasid responded; In Kotz we do not do any of those things. Instead we remain awake every night, we give tzedakah whenever we can and we say a few verses of Psalms at a time concentrating on their meaning. After all, how can you finish at one sitting something that it took King David seventy years to write!!
