Context: Before this scene, Moses meets God and hears God give a very explicit command in 3:10: וְעַתָּ֣ה לְכָ֔ה וְאֶֽשְׁלָחֲךָ֖ אֶל־פַּרְעֹ֑ה וְהוֹצֵ֛א אֶת־עַמִּ֥י בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מִמִּצְרָֽיִם
Moses seems to resist the command. He first asks a lot of questions (Who am I to do this? What if the people ask me your name? What if the people don't believe me?) and then starts insisting that God send someone else. God, in turn, offers what appears to be the ultimate reassurance in 4:12:
Now go, and I will be with you as you speak and will instruct you what to say.”
Questions to consider:
1. We are told God יִּֽחַר־אַ֨ף at Moses, but how does God use this as an opportunity to model for Moses how to support people when we are angry at them?
2. After pushing back multiple times against God, Moses seems to accept the offer God provides in 4:14. Why? Why is the promise of Aaron helping in 4:14 more reassuring to Moses than the promise of God helping in 4:12?
