אָ֣ז יָשִֽׁיר־מֹשֶׁה֩ וּבְנֵ֨י יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל אֶת־הַשִּׁירָ֤ה הַזֹּאת֙ לַֽיהוָ֔ה וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ לֵאמֹ֑ר אָשִׁ֤ירָה לַֽיהוָה֙ כִּֽי־גָאֹ֣ה גָּאָ֔ה ס֥וּס וְרֹכְב֖וֹ רָמָ֥ה בַיָּֽם׃
Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the LORD. They said: I will sing to the LORD, for He has triumphed gloriously; Horse and driver He has hurled into the sea.
נָטִ֙יתָ֙ יְמִ֣ינְךָ֔ תִּבְלָעֵ֖מוֹ אָֽרֶץ׃
You put out Your right hand, The earth swallowed them.
נטית ימינך. כְּשֶׁהַקָּבָּ"ה נוֹטֶה יָדוֹ, הָרְשָׁעִים כָּלִים וְנוֹפְלִים, לְפִי שֶׁהַכֹּל נָתוּן בְּיָדוֹ וְנוֹפְלִים בְּהַטָּיָתָהּ; וְכֵן הוּא אוֹמֵר "וַה' יַטֶּה יָדוֹ וְכָשַׁל עוֹזֵר וְנָפַל עָזֻר" (ישעיהו ל"א), מָשָׁל לִכְלֵי זְכוּכִית הַנְּתוּנִים בְּיַד אָדָם, מַטֶּה יָדוֹ מְעַט וְהֵן נוֹפְלִים וּמִשְׁתַּבְּרִין (מכילתא):
נטית ימינך THOU INCLINEST THY RIGHT HAND — When the Holy One, blessed be He, inclines His hand the wicked cease to be and fall — because everything is held in His hand and consequently falls when He inclines it. Similarly it states, (Isaiah 31:3) “When the Lord inclineth His hand, he that helpeth shall stumble and he that is helped shall fall”. A parable: it may be compared to glass vessels held in a man’s hand: if he inclines his hand a little they fall and are shattered to pieces (cf. Mekhilta d'Rabbi Yishmael 15:12:3).
ד"א נטית ימינך מגיד הכתוב כשהב"ה נוטה ידו רשעים כלים מן העולם שנ' ויט ידו על צפון ויאבד את אשור וגו' (צפניה ב) ואומר הנני נוטה ידי על פלשתים וגו' (יחזקאל כה) ואומר ונטיתי ידי על יהודה (צפניה א) ואומר ונטיתי ידי על אדום (יחזקאל כה) משל למה הדבר דומה לבצים הנתונות ביד אדם שאם יטה ידו מעט כולן נופלות ומשתברות שנ' וה' יטה ידו וכשל עוזר ונפל עזור וגו' (ישעיה לא).
Variantly: "You have inclined Your right hand": When the Holy One inclines His hand, the wicked go lost from the world, viz. (Tzephaniah 2:13) "And He will stretch out His hand to the north, and Ashur will go lost, etc." and (Ezekiel 25:15) "Behold, I will stretch out My hand against the Philistines, etc." An analogy: eggs in a man's hand. He inclines his hand a little and they all fall and break, viz. (Isaiah 31:3) "and the L rd will incline His hand, and the helper will stumble and the helped will fall, etc."
יְמִֽינְךָ֣ יְהוָ֔ה נֶאְדָּרִ֖י בַּכֹּ֑חַ יְמִֽינְךָ֥ יְהוָ֖ה תִּרְעַ֥ץ אוֹיֵֽב׃
Your right hand, O LORD, glorious in power, Your right hand, O LORD, shatters the foe!
ימינך ימינך. שְׁנֵי פְעָמִים, כְּשֶׁיִּשְׂרָאֵל עוֹשִׂין אֶת רְצוֹנוֹ שֶׁל מָקוֹם הַשְּׂמֹאל נַעֲשֵׂית יָמִין (שם):
ימינך ... ימינך THY RIGHT HAND — twice! — When Israel performs the will of the Omnipresent the left hand (intended for punishment) becomes a right hand (bestowing reward, so that God has two right hands as it were) (Mekhilta d'Rabbi Yishmael 15:5).
וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ אֵילִ֔מָה וְשָׁ֗ם שְׁתֵּ֥ים עֶשְׂרֵ֛ה עֵינֹ֥ת מַ֖יִם וְשִׁבְעִ֣ים תְּמָרִ֑ים וַיַּחֲנוּ־שָׁ֖ם עַל־הַמָּֽיִם׃
And they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees; and they encamped there beside the water.
ובאלים שתים עשרה עינות מים ועם כל זה (א) ויסעו מאלים. אל מדבר סין. כענין לכתך אחרי במדבר:
שתים עשרה עינות מים, in spite of this, the people moved on from there.
הָלֹ֡ךְ וְקָֽרָאתָ֩ בְאָזְנֵ֨י יְרוּשָׁלִַ֜ם לֵאמֹ֗ר כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה זָכַ֤רְתִּי לָךְ֙ חֶ֣סֶד נְעוּרַ֔יִךְ אַהֲבַ֖ת כְּלוּלֹתָ֑יִךְ לֶכְתֵּ֤ךְ אַחֲרַי֙ בַּמִּדְבָּ֔ר בְּאֶ֖רֶץ לֹ֥א זְרוּעָֽה׃
Go proclaim to Jerusalem: Thus said the LORD: I accounted to your favor The devotion of your youth, Your love as a bride— How you followed Me in the wilderness, In a land not sown.
